Re: Calibration Poll
I believe that the distance of the calibration ride is a compromise between being long enough to establish a stable power output and short enough to minimize variability in wind conditions. A five to fifteen mile, or longer, out and back is bound to present more variable wind conditions over the tim...

Re: PP v3 pairing
John,
Success!
Deleted the third sensor and repeated pairing the sensor. Then immediately paired to the Bolt while the yellow light was still on. Believe previously I had cycled the PP off and on before attempting to pair.

Re: PP v3 pairing
Per my update to my previous post, I paired directly to a third sensor with the same results. I have asked Wahoo concerning this and of course they said to contact you. The sensors paired are ANT+/Bluetooth and paired without issue. Just attempted to pair with my old Edge 500. No dice! Is there a wa...

Re: PP v3 pairing
John, The PP is paired with two different speed sensors and a HRM. Might this again be related having paired the sensors via profile transfer from the previous unit rather than pairing directly? Update - Just paired directly to a third speed and cadence sensor. Got the yellow light. Then attempted t...

PP v3 pairing
I have been unable to pair the PP v3 with the ELEMNT Bolt via ANT+. Using the user app I was able to pair via BlueTooth. Normally one would turn on a sensor, and have the Bolt search for the sensor signal. The Bolt never finds the v3 signal, so I have had to resort to adding the v3 via the Wahoo use...

Re: V3 adventures
And so my repeated hard resets, trying to get a yellow light was never going to get me the yellow light I thought I needed. If I had set the active profile to one of the empty profiles before pairing, then yellow? Perhaps the instruction set needs to present the two conditions together in one place:...

Re: V3 adventures
I am going to assume that the reason I never saw a yellow light following pairing attempts is a result of loading the profiles from my previous unit first?

Re: V3 adventures
Both the PowerPod instructions included in the box, and PP 649_EN__071618.PDF state: “AFTER successful pairing light is SOLID YELLOW” PP O&B 6.41+.PDF states: “AFTER successful pairing the light is SOLID GREEN” I never saw yellow after any pairing attempt - it was always green, so finally assume...

V3 adventures
Did the trade-in deal for the V3 PowerPod and had a few issues switching over. First, I am not at all enamored with the new mount with the mounting bolts inserted from the bottom. Access is hampered by cables and stem. The unit itself obstructs access to the bolts, making adjustment a pain. Either d...

Re: V3 vs Aeropod upgrades ?
Answer #5 would seem to be counter a previous response regarding the need to repurchase PowerStroke: “If you already own PowerStroke on a prior Velocomp device, then no. Just include that information in your notes.” Sorry, this was intended to be a limited time offer, valid through June 30 2019. In...

Re: Avoiding recalibration at the start of a ride
I achieved improved consistency by orienting the mount such that the unit mounting screw inserts from the left side. That way any torque transferred to the unit while tightening is forcing the unit up against the tab.

Re: Ride interpretation
Thanks John,
Guess I was expecting to see orange “drafting” indicator the entire return leg. Also did not understand the high indicated wind speeds. Is that an artifact of drafting?
Regards,
John

Ride interpretation
Don't quite know how to interpret this ride file. It is an out and back ride. The out leg I pulled the entire time, and drafted the entire back leg. Wind was 3 mph from the north (tail wind out leg, head wind back leg). I was expecting the ride file to reflect drafting for half of the ride, and the ...
Re: Gps
This works with the Garmin .fit files. The merge does not pick up data from .fit files generated by the Wahoo Elemnt.
Appears that Wahoo is using the new FIT 2 format

Re: PowerPod recalibrating during rides
Now this is an interesting twist. My usual routine is to hook the unit to a computer to download ride data before wheeling the bike to the garage and hanging it by the saddle on a rafter. So the data will have been collected prior to any additional wheel movement. Occasionally I immediately wheel th...

Re: PowerPod recalibrating during rides
The mount is firm and has not rotated. If it had rotated, I would not expect it to give an off reading, and then recover on the following ride. I have struggled with this issue from the beginning. I deburred the edges of the mount, and used an awl to line up the the holes in the unit and the mount t...

Re: PowerPod recalibrating during rides
The two examples submitted are the worst cases. In the case of Jules, calibration resulted in a tilt value of -0.7. Each time I did a calibration resulted in this same tilt value. Successive rides following the last calibration resulted in the following values: -0.6 -0.7 -0.6 -0.8 -0.7 -0.8 -0.7 -0....

Re: PowerPod recalibrating during rides
The "correct" value is memorized at the end of each ride, and used as the starting point for the next ride. If you aren't removing your PP between rides, and your PP is attached tightly so that it can't rotate on the mount, then I don't see any reason this should happen. This is happening...

PowerPod recalibrating during rides
I have sporadic instances of the PowerPod recalibrating at the beginning of rides. Power readings will be extremely high or extremely low (like zero) until the recalibration is complete. When I do an "analyze calibration" after the ride, a new tilt value is suggested. This is despite the f...
