Re: Major firmware update for AeroPod

John,

would that be the best profile to use when using the Aeropod as a power meter? Or should one rather use profile 1 or 2? Any restrictions regarding the first minutes to ensure accuracy?

Re: Confused by multiple CdA results

Maybe it is already available, but I think a best practices white paper would be awesome. That should include the test protocol for most consistent data as well as how to treat/analyze the data afterwards including how best to look at the data in Isaac

So what is up?

See very little traffic on this forum. Still wondering about best practices for CdA measurements. What is most important for accuracy? No hills, smooth asphalt, no stopping ... Also, when are you planning to release non-Beta firmware and the Connect IQ data field through the Garmin store? Seems this...

Re: How's the CdA experimenting going with everyone?

I am wondering about the Crr. On the Powerpod it was automatically adjusted to reflect road bumpiness. On my very smooth bike path I have multiple underpasses with rough surface, every time I pass one of those, my CdA seems to change and take a while to return. Also, up and down seems to matter in C...

Looking forward to that firmware. Mainly though for the ability to hit lap and see the average of the last session. Think that will be cool!

BTW just a suggestion. If Aeropod/Powerpod is used with DFPM and no cadence sensor, then Isaac shouldn't show wasted watts to avoid confusion ...

Re: Calibration without re-pairing

John, Have a calibration question. Maybe I am doing it wrong? When I do the out-back calibration, I come to a complete stop when the power display reaches 50%, lifts my bike into the opposite direction and start riding back. When doing that the power display often jumps almost directly to 52%. It se...

Re: Power stroke sensor location DFPM

John,

Thank you for the clarification. Does the CdA function benefit from the Hidef sampling rate or is it only used for Powerstroke? Just wondering if I should change to 1 sec sampling.

Thanks,

Thx!! BTW. why is the wasted energy so much lower with the AeroPod compared to what I was used to with the PowerPod? Usually my wasted energy with the AeroPod is less than 1-2 watts.

Re: CdA changes between headwind and tailwind - to be expected?

John, Thank you for good explanation. Just to add to the argument, in a tail wind, the speed will go up, frictional forces will go up but wind resistance is smaller. Thus, could errors in Crr estimation create the difference between head and tail winds? In principle there should be no difference, ri...

Power stroke sensor location DFPM

Hi,

I am using my Aeropod with a Power2max NG Eco DFPM. Cadence info also comes from the DFPM. What sensor location should I choose for powerstroke?

Thanks,

Re: AeroPod and mountain biking

Hi John, Would it be possible to tape over the wind port when using the Aeropod enduro mountain biking? Just thinking that all the power mountain biking goes to overcoming gravity and rolling resistance whereas wind resistance only matter downhill with little pedaling. Taping over the windport would...

Could you also help with a measurement using your handlebar mount from the underside of the handlebars to the underside of the AeroPod?

Re: AeroPod and mountain biking

And I can remove the pitot tube for non-CdA applications to make it a little less likely to be damaged, right?

Also, what is the distance from the underside of the handlebars to the underside of the AeroPod? Just want to make sure it clears.

AeroPod and mountain biking

Hi, I am thinking about getting an AeroPod so I can (in priority order): 1. Measure power on my Enduro mountain bike 2. Optimize CdA on my road bike for racing 3. Have a portable solution for rental bikes when I travel. The AeroPod seems like a very good solution for 2 and 3. I am little concerned a...

Re: Using PowerPod with Xert

I used PowerPod with Xert. It worked quite well. Only suggestion is to make sure no cables can touch the PowerPod, can result in unrealistic peak power. Other than that my PowerPod derived Xert profile aligned quite well with my DFPM Xert profile. Thanks, Morten PS I love Xert. I stopped subscribing...

Re: Could Power/AeroPod do this?

Thinking you first created the basic power meter. For road you then added the ability to measure aerodynamic drag broadening the market to cyclists who already have DFPMs, triathletes and racers. In the mountain biking space one can use a DFPM but that really only captures the uphill portion. If you...

Re: POWER POD Watts Low Compared to Smart Trainer Watts

My Powerpod was giving me higher power than my Kickr Snap by about 40W. I then bought a dual leg Powerbeat from Watteam so I could have same reference inside and outside. The Powerbeat agreed with the Powerpod. Subsequent to that I reached out to Wahoo and they told me my spin down times were too lo...

John, Yes, my Garmin Edge 520 syncs with Garmin Connect which then syncs with Xert, Strava, and Trainingpeaks (dropping Trainingpeaks when subscription runs out). Really love Xert.
