Re: The thing you must do if you own a Garmin bike computer

Never had an issue with my Edge 520 and the PP. No dropouts. I always turn the 520 on first and let it show me all the sensors are awake before I turn on the PP.

Yep, it is a sleepy parallel service road with new pavement and some challenging for me inclines.

First ride with PPV3 and DFPM

John, Attached is my first ride with the new PPV3 and the new Dual DFPM. The wind sensor seems to be much improved on the V3. I also added the pitot to make it look even more cool! Not sure if it helps or not but the cool factor is nice. I used the Dual DFPM to analyze the calibration and it did a g...

Thanks John,

By the way I love the new case for the PPV3!
Much more durable look/feel as well as aerodynamic!

Re: PPV3 used with a DFPM

I assume it is not possible to pair both the DFPM and the PPV3 to the same bike computer? In other words if I want to use the connect IQ AP to display wind speed and slope in real time from the PPV3, I will have to chose to lose the DFPM advanced metrics?

PPV3 used with a DFPM

John, I have upgraded to the new PPV3 and recently picked up a dual DFPM and want to use it in combination with the PPV3. My question is do I pair my bike computer with the DFPM or just the PPV3? Does the PPV3 retransmit all the ANT+ profiles from the DFPM if I only pair to the PPV3? Will Stuff like...

Out of Saddle Detection

John, I have never been able to get my PP to detect out of saddle. I have it turned on to display but it never says any are available in the ride file. This attached file has 5 out of saddle events. They coincide with the power spikes. I have a PPV3 on the way to replace this one :) Just hoping you ...

Re: New PowerPod v3 - Technical questions

Thanks John, Being a long time Powerpod user, I just ordered a Powerpod V3 upgrade/trade in. I also recently purchased a DFPM and look forward to the combination of new features/accuracy of the PPV3 along with the DFPM. I also asked via the notes to purchase a pitot tube to upgrade the PPV3 even mor...

Powerstroke Option?

John,

I am so on the fence with the new PP vs the Aeropod....

I noticed that the Power stroke upgrade for the new PP is only $48.50 adder but for the Aeropod+ it adds $100 to the price.

Is this a website issue or is that intentional?

Re: New PowerPod v3 - Technical questions

John, Will the new V3 of the Powerpod support the Powerhouse app? Will it have any Connect IQ app? (Would me nice to see live wind and slope data). Finally will it come with Powerstroke enabled like the Aeropod+? Not sure if I want to wait for the new Powerpod V3 or go with the AeroPod. I really don...

Re: Laps???

PP can detect out-of-saddle events. Make sure you have the featured enabled in Isaac. This feature is not 100% reliable, so sometimes it makes mistakes (false positives and false negatives) John, I have looked but can't find where to enable this. I see where to turn it on for viewing but don't see ...

Laps???

John,

Is there a way to edit laps in the ride file after importing into Isaac? Please point me to how if you can.

Also, I don't think the PP knows when you are out of the saddle or not since it does not display that data, how did other products that used Isaac do that?

Had to adjust mount - last ride does not look as good

John, I had to move my mount due to adjusting the bars, flipping over the stem and adding some shims. This moved the mount from the original location where the original calibration took place. The unit clearly noticed this and went over 9 minutes before I saw any power. So it looks like it did try a...

Re: New user - I think the power looks a bit high?

Nope, all is well. PP accurately measures baro pressure; it's the conversion to elevation that changes, because at the same elevation, baro pressure varies due to weather changes. The elevation gained and elevation profile are correct, but after each ride you'll need to adjust starting elevation us...

Re: New user - I think the power looks a bit high?

I think I am getting the hang of the powerpod now! One thing that doesn't look right on each ride is the elevation - It appears to put me at about -500 feet when it should be about 80 feet! How can I change this on all of the profiles? I assume that the pressure might be out a bit too (edit, the ri...

Re: Magnetless sensor pairing issues

I extracted the profile from your ride file attached above and there is no cadence sensor paired with your device. http://i66.tinypic.com/2rcqqo3.png I have also found that it can be difficult to wake up the Garmin Cadence sensor without actually pedaling the bike. Just spinning the crank by hand wo...

Re: How do I know how accurately my powerpod is dialed in ?

This is an automatic function that happens continuously, at every moment of every ride. If you've removed your PP and then reattached it, the first 8 minutes will compensate for any changes in mounting angle. After that, the changes are gradual (at best) so there is nothing to worry about. John, If...

John,

Does this happen on every ride or ? If not every ride, what triggers this?

What happens if you start your ride on a non level surface?

I have found on many other devices that all USB cables are not created equal. Some just don't work with some devices. I have no idea why but it has something to do with pin mapping and cross-talk between the wires.

Newbie PowerPod User First Ride

John, Thanks for activating my account. Here is my first lazy/easy/short ride after the calibration ride for my new PowerPod. Just wanted to see if it looked normal. The only thing I did was set up my profile and change the power smoothing from Dynamic to zero seconds. How does it look? Simple quest...
