check calibration ride results
Hi John, After getting out of trainer mode (earlier thread/help from you) I inadvertently triggered a new calibration ride trying to troubleshoot cadence readout on my Garmin. On the ride immediately following calibration it felt like the wind sensor may have been over-reading based on what I was se...

something seems out of whack; calibration check pls
Hi John, Back riding after a long winter of rehab/prehab to postpone knee surgery. First ride in a while; not confident calibration is correct as watts and PE/HR (which I know is a lagging indicator) don't seem to jive well. Pretty windy; very low watts going up grades into the wind at slower speeds...

Re: recommended trainer profile for rollers w/mag unit?
Wow, talk about dead-thread revival. Thanks so much @klhutch52. I really appreciate the detailed response. While I think I follow the logic, this is pretty far beyond what I'm willing to tackle given my pay grade/capabilities. I was hoping Velocomp might have an easier approach to recommending a &qu...

Re: Struggling with the PowerPod
Interesting following this thread. I vacillate on my confidence in the PP (the downhill issue, trying to understand implications of hoods vs drops while doing longer intervals to a specific but I''n not hijacking the thread for that). I do continue to use the PP, and have thought about the Aeropod u...

Nice work, @4speed! You have some machining skills way beyond mine... I'm interested in the purpose of the clip over the Powerpod tab. Is it to prevent wear on the plastic tab, or to insure a solid connection to the mount? I could see where one could make a clip that would allow the mount to b...

Interesting that I was technologically challenged to get the files to stick. Thought I had them attached several times. We'll try again here.
O&B was pretty flat.
Thanks, John.

different sensor IDs in profile vs showing on Garmin; O&B confirmation, pls.
Did a new sensor pairing after upgrading to 4.61, and the magnetless Garmin cadence and speed sensor IDs in the profile (extracted from the device) show different numbers than show on my Garmin Fenix 3. To make sure I was had cadence/speed paired to my Powerpod my Garmin 800 is set to "bike sen...

Thanks, John. I have extracted from a ride file and I think it has successfully loaded to the PP.
Looking forward to the fix on which you are working so I can do a new calibration ride with a different set of wheels.

Re: unable to force new pairing yellow status after upgrade to 6.40
I have been in contact with Tom and understand (and you report in another thread here) that there may be bug related to profile resets after upgrade. Thanks for working on that. After trying several things I decided just to ride today, and found that when I started pp after waking sensors I had a so...

Re: unable to force new pairing yellow status after upgrade to 6.40
Also just tried resetting via Isaac Device/Setup/reset profile device/complete device reset
Get the "message comm error with device"
Prior to this the PP did connect to Isaac and downloaded a ride file.

Here you go, John.
24 green flashes after putting in pairing mode, then 2 red flashes, then green solid and light out. Single press gave a solid green light.

unable to force new pairing yellow status after upgrade to 6.40
Hi John Followed the instructions you provided in the PP firmware forum, and for some reason I have not been able to get the yellow light for a new O&B cal ride. I think I"m following the instructions: wake up sensors (Garmin magnetless speed on front wheel, Garmin magnetless cadence on cra...

Re: Velocomp Garmin Powerpod handlebar mount trouble
I once inadvertently put the bolt in from the wrong side (into the brass bushing first rather than through the plastic side into the brass) and had the same thing. You might confirm you're inserting the thumbscrew from the correct side. Even with the correct side, it does take some cranking down to ...

Re: Using PowerPod with Xert
The recent firmware update reducing the positioning re-calibration from 8 minutes to 90 seconds is a huge improvement. I may be missing something, but my Garmin is set to start recording at the press of a button, not when I turn on the unit. My approach with the new firmware is to wake up sensors, t...

Re: New Firmware 640 for PowerPod
John, congrats on the anniversary! Helpful stuff, thanks. If you don't need to use Isaac to do O&B (great news) how does one get to the yellow light status to initiate an O&B ride? Hold the button for >5 seconds to initiate pairing, or is there some other sequence of steps to initiate an O&a...

1. Improved, shortened (about 5 minutes) out-and-back calibration 2. Out-and-back calibration is now standard for all PowerPod models. 3. Whenever a sensor pairing is performed, PowerPod automatically goes in to out-and-back calibration mode. That is, whenever you do a sensor pairing, even to the s...

Pretty amazing technology, John. Thanks for all the good work here.
Downside is that PPod is both accurate and precise, which takes some of my potential excuses off the table.

calibrate near sea level, use PP at altitude?
Question of curiosity. I did my calibration at approx 800ft elevation, now am vacationing in CO riding at 6,000 feet and will do some climbs around 11,000 ft. Anything i need to tweak, or will my reported power be good to go? BTW, I already know I'm sucking wind as a flatlander and can't put out my ...

check calibration on last 3 rides indicates orange/red changes

Calibration ride check pls -- wrong road surface selected

Re: High power "artifacts" downhill and impact on calculatio
Thanks, John. Glad you have an opinion on things   Some folks would say that the PP approach to measuring power is less "kosher" than direct force measurement -- but Velocomp (company) has worked hard to demonstrate otherwise. Not arguing with you, but perhaps the Xert folks ha...
