Re: Power Dropping out and full ride not recorded

Hi John,
ISAAC is saying that I don't have the "out of the saddle" information in my ride file? Anything what I could change?

Thx

Re: Video: setting up PowerPod on a second bike

Very good! Could you briefly explain the settings of the four pre-defined profiles. I assume there have different wind scaling factors, etc. I - and I think most of the users - used the "Setup Newton" option to configure profiles with mounting position, ride weight, etc. to set up differen...

Re: Power variance - out front mount vs handle bar mount

No, you start a new ride. Then you go for a 5 minutes or a bit more (not too long bcs. of changing wind conditions) ride with in best case no traffic and after 5 minutes you go back the exactly same way and stop the ride. Then download the file with ISAAC and choose the calibration check option for ...

Re: New user....

It does not make any difference if you're climbing or not during the first 8 minutes; the recalibration process is the same. I noticed that the recalibration values differ from the profile you ride during the calibration. I live in the middle of a hill. When I start upwards the values are more or l...

Re: Power variance - out front mount vs handle bar mount

You need to do an out-and-back ride to get this more accurate.
Even on the same mounting position on different bikes the wind scaling value varies.

Re: New user....

In the 1st 8 minutes the PP does a calibration when it is not attached the same way as the ride before.
My experience: If you don't climb in this 8 minutes the power values are too high.

The K-EDGE Combo Mounts are working fine on my bikes. Others are using them here successfully as well. They also look better. :P
You should also shorten your cables....

Where is the PP mounted? Heandlebar? Then wind scaling 1.5 is too high. 1.4 is better.

Re: Setting up PowerPod on a second bike

You need to do an out-and-back ride to find the right wind scaling value. I had similar issue. The default wind scaling vlaues of 1.4 (handlebar mount) and 1.7 (combo mount) do not always fit exactly. Even same mount on two different bikes might mean you need to use different wind scaling. See my re...

John, I don't want to argue that this is not the case. Re: Question Wind scaling values

Well the mount is quite different from the one you ship with the PP. Therefore I was not sure which value to take. But thanks to this out-and-back possibility it is easy to find out what to use in the end. However, as you can see from the combo experience above the value differ on same mount quite s...

...and last but not least the last (3rd) winter and night ride bike. Wind Scaling factor was adjusted (1.65) too high which could be easily seen from the power values. Additional feedback from my side as I did the Out-and-Back ride also with the other bike where I had always the impression that the values are a bit high. I did the out-and-back ride today - 6 minutes out and then back (a bit slower due to elevation gain) The outcome is as follows: http://up.picr.de/25290115ob.jpg Ride file is attached. Re: Head or tail wind?

I had same issue and very low power values on descents.

Check the Wind Scaling value in the Profile. There is a bug in ISAAC which sets it to 1.000 by default when you create a new profile.
This is far too low and should be either 1.4 for handle bar mount PP and 1.7 (I use 1.65) for Combo mount.

Re: My 1st Experience and some Questions/Issues

Not good to hear you PP is broken. Thanks for your offer to test. Seeing the gap now between you two values and considering your wind scaling of 1.325 it could be fine if you increase wind scaling to correct value. Btw, I checked now on several rides and from my best guess and the comparison with my...

I extracted the profile from PP. To my surprise, the wind scaling was 1.325, instead of 1.7. Very interesting, especially you have the possibility to compare with another powermeter. May I ask you to repeat that with the wind scaling set to 1.7 (or 1.6 which I found out to be the better value for t...
