Re: Calibration support against DFPM
Thank you for elaborating on this John - highly appreciated. As I thought it might have been a bit too windy on the test day, I went for another test ride yesterday where wind was a bit calmer. The O&B ride was slightly longer than the one earlier this week but with the input you had provided I'...

Re: Calibration support against DFPM
Thanks a lot John. That makes a lot of sense. The average power gets dialed in. But how about the Max numbers - how come they are still so much apart?

Calibration support against DFPM
Today I thought I would try and see how close the PP was to my Powertap G3 Ant+. Turns out it is pretty close. But I can't seem to dial it in more precisely. If I focus on a flat section and reduce my CDA in Edit Profile it messes things up in other parts of the cal ride. I am confident John will be...

Differences in 2 calibration rides
Yesterday I did two calibration rides. The one at 11.05 was an out and back ride riding a long curve. The second ride at 11.13 was a straight line out and back ride. When using the check calibration function on the first ride it suggests the power is too the high. Whereas when analyzing the second r...

Re: Announcing PowerPod V5
True, but Power is also recorded by PP for deep dive analysis in Isaac which does provide great metrics and insights. I know Isaac is a "beast" but it's getting increasingly overdue for not only a makeover but a complete new version. Currently Isaac requires a wired computer connection to ...

Pitot tube thread
Today I unfortunately broke the pitot tube just where it enters the PP. I managed to get the broken threaded part out. Am now wondering if I can re-thread the tube with only a few mm length missing. Worth a try I think… But what thread size is it?

Re: Power too high? Part 2
Ah - get it. But then we might have an issue. As this were commute rides - primarily in one direction (NW) and wind coming from W more or less (at least for the Planet X ride).
I think I better do an o&b ride this weekend and see how the Check calibration results look.

Re: Power too high? Part 2
Brilliant. Thank you so much John. I also just switched profile on my latest FTP ride and all of a sudden my FTP increased by 16% from 234 to 272 - wonderful
How do you recognise such wrong settings? Just your years of experience or are there some golden rules or tips to follow?

Validity of the PowerPod compared with the Verve Cycling InfoCrank
Just came across this one. Interesting study and findings. As users what learnings should we draw from these findings in terms of mitigating a tendency to high readings in a dynamic environment?

Power too high? Part 1
I am currently riding two different bikes: A De Rosa road bike and a Planet X commuter bike (with mudguards, slightly more upright position and approx 2 kg. heavier). I commute to work - in nice weather on the road bike and in not so nice weather on the commuter bike. The route is pretty flat and ma...

HR data Isaac vs Garmin Connect
Today I did a 20 min FTP test. The Isaac file shows 92 BPM throughout the ride. The Garmin unit continously showed values in the 150s - as does the Garmin file. Both files are attached. What could be the reason for this? The different power output is due to the wrong profile being used during the ri...

Planet X.ibp De Rosa.ibp I have done a calibration ride for two different bikes. And I now have them in Isaac - see attachments. But in PP only one of them appears - as profile number 2 (I view this when I click Set active profile in Device). Profile number one is labelled Unsaved (type: User Edite...

Mount tilt
I received my v4 PowerPod yesterday and am looking forward to try it. The old v2 I had mounted on K-Edge XL Garmin combo mounts. It was mounted level to the ground. With the v4 I understand it is ideal to have it pointing slightly downward to allow rain to run out of the pitot tube. But by doing so ...

Re: Calculate smooth vs rough surface distribution
That is exactly what I'm hinting at John. The feature I'm thinking of would use the data from the DCRR to calculate the split between smooth and rough surface. When I get home from a gravel ride I would like to know how many km I rode on paved roads and how many on non-paved. If the road roughness i...

Calculate smooth vs rough surface distribution
The other day when I was riding my gravel bike on a combined asphalt and gravel route I got thinking if it in a future software update would be possible to have PowerPod/Isaac calculate and show the approx. distribution of smooth vs rough surface. If you combined rides it is always difficult to gues...

Cannot check calibration
I did a few tweaks on my road bike and got a new speed sensor. So off I went to do a new calibration ride which went smooth as it should. After the calibration ride power lit up and I rode 4 laps of a large oval (former airfield runway). During the ride I noticed that everytime I came to the end of ...

Will PowerHouse Bike Profile overwrite Isaac profile?
I have 4 different profiles in Isaac named as to which bike/setup they refer to. Now, if I go into PowerHouse I cannot see these 4 profiles. But a can choose to setup Bike Profile 1-4. If I setup one of those will it then overwrite the corresponding profile from Isaac in PowerPod? In Isaac I have th...
