Velocomp, would this adversly affect the readings?
I've been thinking about doing something similar but rather than a 90 degree like that a 180, but curved to help direct the flow.

Re: Velodrome and aero testing
Thanks for the response Fernando.
The reason I ask is that the nearest outside veledrome is over an hour and a half away and its not free.
I'm trying to work out how to best spend my time using the ibike for aero testing, well at least where to start. I think I may do some road loops first....

Velodrome and aero testing
hi all,
has anyone done any aero testing on a veledrome with a newton and a direct force power meter?
I ask as i wonder if the banking / centrafugal force throws out the tilt and thus the power calcs?
cheers

Re: Powerstroke and rollers
Thanks for taking the time to do that
I was just interested to see if the PowerStroke would give anything decent with the trainer mode on rollers

Re: Powerstroke and rollers
Thanks for the advice Ken, I will try that next time. I did a roller ride earlier with the trainer mode turned off, interesting results... I'm not exactly stable on rollers mind you :) I was doing 3 minutes at around 125rpm, the last 30s at as high as possible. Interesting that my wasted watts did r...

Re: Set Ibike calibration with DFPM
Ah I found it, in the manual for cDa.
If anyone from Velocomp reads this thread, I would suggest that that snippet of info should be in the main manual, and probably in the quickstart manual (even if its only a deference saying if you use a DFPM go read the man manual page x).

Re: Powerstroke and rollers
Looking at the file, its not got 'HiDef' in the file name as my other files do, and its much smaller than my other hour rides.
Looks like turning the trainer mode on, removes the fast recording

Re: Set Ibike calibration with DFPM
is this still relevant for the ibike Newton?
As I can't see anything about doing a longer 2 mile out then back (compared to the normal 1 mile out and back) ride with a DFPM?

Re: Powerstroke and rollers
Well I did the ride and downloaded the data. I click the Power Stroke button and get a message 'Please visit the ibike store to learn more about measuring your wasted watts', works fine on the previous ride files and if I check the unlocks on the device it has the Power Stroke listed... I presume th...

Re: Getting the most out of an iBike for snapshot/continious cDa
I'm collecting lots of info now, so will post up a thread at some point. A question for someone though. I've read that doing a cal wind and tilt call inbtween aero testing is a bad idea, I think the analogy used was, its like changing the tone on your stereo mid concert. Now being that some of the p...

Re: Powerstroke and rollers
I'm going to be doing a session tonight so I will post it up in the next few days. It will be interesting for me as its a session based around increasing cadence and I will be doing some intervals at a cadence I struggle to hold. Comparing the powerstroke movement to intervals that are at a steady c...

Backlight Options
Hi all, I recently got a newton, and I'm quite surprised there is no backlight and after looking through the forums I've seen great debate on this and someone suggesting a sigma bike computer light as a good option. I've been looking around to buy one of these sigma bike computer lights and it seems...

Re: Getting the most out of an iBike for snapshot/continious cDa
Thanks for the advice and link Russ.
I've emailed the chap in the blog for any best practice tips.
I think I will email velocomp as well, as they must have some pointers from there own testing/development

Getting the most out of an iBike for snapshot/continious cDa
Hi all, As a new ibike owner I currently trawling all the posts to understand how to get the most out of the snapshot/continuous cDa measurements. I originally bought the ibike it was to gain the wind data to use in Golden Cheetah's aero lab, as I do a lot of aero testing but as the continuous cDa f...
