Newton detecting other rider's DFPM data

Is there a feature in Newton so I can prevent getting other riders DFPM data?
This keeps happening lately and is a little bit frustrating.

Re: stuck in scan mode

This has happened to me a couple of times if I started up my Newton on the bike I would be riding while another bike (and sensors) were situated close. By putting some distance (maybe 5-10 m) to any other bike's sensors and choosing the correct profile I get scan mode to work. However with the lates...

I love this feature with quick access to the Fit Train mode. I find it incredibly smart and useful.
Please do no remove it!

Re: Cal wind changed: need new cal ride?

I usually do Cal wind only a couple of times per year spread out over the season. This covers the outdoor tempertature variations enough for acceptable accuracy at least for the place where I live. If it happens to be extremely cold or warm the day you ride you could do an extra Cal wind, just don't...

So the method I described is the correct one (Crr=0.0211 from Isaac / Device Set up) ?

Re: Ibike Newton and MTB ?

There should be no issues with low temperatures. If using Newton with a fat bike, use Isaac to set your wheel circumference properly and also set Crr to 0.008. John, could you elaborate a bit about where the Crr=0.008 comes from? Isn't the Crr depending on both tire type, dimensions and the road co...

Are there any plans to release a front mount that is compatible with flat "aero like" bars that come with more aero race bikes such as the Specialized Venge?

We received a comment on Newton Tracker; here it is: "Like the iBike itself, the major complaint here is that there is no way to manually pause the timer when you pull over to change headbands, respond to nature's call, etc. At least the Newton autopauses, while tracker keeps the elapsed time runni...

Otherwise you've put endless engineering hours into something that will never be used and appreciated by the customer. The scale ...

Re: Ibike watts show higher on bike

Thanks Fernando, your input is always helpful. I always put in the elevation numbers after the ride in Isaac. In this case it should be start elevation 14 m and end elevation 149 m. That gives me 214 W average. Since it was partly a group ride I left the box Draft in this Ride checked. If I don't ch...

Re: Ibike watts show higher on bike

Now I am perplexed and a little worried. First I have never unchecked the Auto analysis box, I simply assumed that it was default setting since it has always been checked and I haven't bother to change it. What exactly happens when I uncheck it? Is it the same as unchecking the Ride has out and back...

Re: Slope question

Nice effort racefern. Also very consistent slope readings during the 13 climbs. Your last climb is smooth, you stay seated and that's probably the reason for wasting only 4 W (1.6% of 244 W). On climb #10 your out of the saddle and your wasted watts jump to 13 W (4% of 328 W). On the other hand you ...

Slope question

Today I rode a hill repeat ride however the slope estimation in my Newton seems to differ between the different laps (see attachement - laps 2-5), max slope varies between 15.5% and 17.6% Anybody who has an idea what this is due to? Could it have anything to do with if I am sitting down or I am out ...

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?

Did another FTP yesterday. This time I warmed up properly for about 30 minutes and then started a 20 min max test. During a part of the test there was quite a bit of a headwind, I don't know if that affected the power estimation of the Newton so that readings are too high (or too low). Anyway, accor...

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?

Thanks Fernando! I think my race strategy went very well, at about 10 km from the end I had enough power left to make a break and keep it to the finish out of the 50-man group, this way I was able to finish 6th in my starting group. The 20 min with 243 W average include this part, at about 3 hours i...

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?

Here is the ride file from the race in case anybody cares to take a look. I wasn't able to keep 215-230 W average but wisely decied to cover from wind by staying behind a rotating team in the front of a 50 man peleton most of the race.

Heith, you are spot on, I went through the same emotions every time  Fernando, thanks for your valuable input. Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?

That really clarifies things, thanks. Looks like I have to do a new test, going full out during 20 min. I am pretty sure I would be able to raise the watts if I am looking at a 20 min test compared to a 30 min. How about the fact that doing this test alone as a workout and not in a race or competiti...

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?

Interesting, do you know the reason for using average power in the shorter test and normalised power in the 60 min test? FTP - Average or Normalised Power?

Today I did a 30 min all out ride as described by Joel Friel in his book Power Meter in order to check my FTP. I did it in Fit Train mode and did not use the setup menu and FTP test in my iBike Newton. According to Isaac my average power during the 30 min test was 253 W and norm power 259 W (I had s...

So far I've been very pleased with the performance of my Newton. Any explanation on this? I suspect that rai...
