Re: New Cal Ride??

Wouldn't you want to do a new Cal Ride if your change in saddle height could affect your CDA? A few cm's is a pretty big adjustment.

Re: TT Aerobars Mounting

Copper tubing used for refrigerator water supply lines fits snugly inside the rubber tubing. It's flexible enough to allow you to shape it as you need it as long as you don't put a kink in it.

Re: Newton as PowerTap head unit without speed sensor?

It would be a nice feature if the Newton could at least use the cadence data from the PowerTap hub like the Garmin 500 does. I've had rides where the cadence sensor shifted slightly and suddenly the Newton is showing zero watts for the rest of the ride. This can be later fixed in Isaac (a nice featu...

Re: Garmin and Newton/Isaac different power readings

I have the same set up as you, David, and I noticed a slight variation between the Garmin power graph and the Newton power graph in Isaac when I import the Garmin ride file into Isaac. The Garmin power graph tends to be smoother than the Newton, and the Normalized Power is usually slightly lower by ...

If you have the GT Key, you could display them both at the same time on the Garmin.

John,

Thanks for the recent update to Isaac. The TCX files work in Garmin Connect now! Much appreciated! :D

Nice feature! Thanks!

Can the user select which Power Meter data gets loaded into Training Peaks if I'm using a DFPM?

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?

You should use normalized Power for a 60 minute test. Otherwise, take 95% of your average power for a 20 minute test. That's what the Newton does. There are some who disagree with 95% of the 20 minute average power since the 95% could be lower for some people. Look to see what your best 20-minute av...

Using a DFPM to calibrate a trainer

Since my trainer is not included in the list of trainers with power/speed curves in Isaac, is there a way to calibrate the coefficients of the power/speed curve using a DFPM on the trainer with Newton and Isaac? If P-in can be enabled in Trainer Mode, this would simplify things. Even better would be...

Re: Download feature/bug fix

There's an option to select See Download Window, I think it's called. From there you can select which files to download. I normally save my files on the Newton for a couple of days or so just in case I want to redownload them and start my analysis from the original file.

Thank you FirmwareGuy for posting the directions for using the Pcal command. Some questions and suggestions: 1. Is it possible to change Step 5 so that you press the center button again instead of the up or down arrow? Or to state something like "Press Up to Start Cal"? I thought I had the...

Re: Quest for "best calibrations"

Why are the DFPM metrics different when recorded by Newton and viewed in Isaac as compared to those recorded by my Garmin and viewed in WKO+? The DFPM transmits exactly the same data, doesn't it? I am most concerned about IF and TSS, the calculations of which I would expect to be almost exactly the...

Re: Quest for "best calibrations"

If you use the Power Meter Comparison in Isaac on your ride, it looks like Newton and your DFPM are fairly close from about 8 minutes to the end of your ride. The first 4 minutes of your ride are off by a factor of about 4.2 (423 Watts average for Newton vs. 100 Watts average for the DFPM). It appea...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.

Can't open the csv files in Isaac. Need the ibr files. I think the power numbers and slopes in the calibration files are meaningless since when you ride the first leg of the out and back, the Newton doesn't know the tilt yet. It computes the tilt on the return leg. I have questions about calibrating...

Perhaps PowerTap also increases its raw data by 2% or so to be comparible to crank-based power meters which measure the direct power applied by the rider. Anyone know?

Re: iBike import to Strava not grouping with other riders

Do you accept the Garmin timestamp when you merge the ibike file with the Newton fit file? Another thought - will it work of you export the combined file to tcx instead of csv and import the tcx to Strava? I do both of these and I've not had a problem with Strava not finding the other riders on a gr...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.

Yesterday, I set up a new profile with the new firmware and let Newton do it's thing with the calibration ride. The file for the calibration ride is very strange. It started out with a slope of 40 degrees (and 2000 Watts!) on the outbound leg and flat on the inbound leg for a flat out-and-back ride....

Re: won't export to TCX

yes, TrainingPeaks imports .csv files fine, but many of the other sites such as Garmin Connect and MapMyRide won't accept .csv files. It would be a nice feature to be able to export iBike files to .tcx files without the GPS data. It would still have the rest of the data.
