Re: Speed Sensor vs GPS

It must be a misunderstanding. Also I think that Powertap hub is a special DFPM , since it broadcasts not just cadence and power data, but speed, too. Frankly speaking since it is a rear wheel hub, its speed data is as perfect as that of any other stabdalone speed sensor. After setting tore circumfe...

But I dug more into the manual of Isaac and by now I changed my hypothesis. Since in Check Calibration with DFPM has only two tabs under Crr vs Cda where there are 3 tabs including DFPM fit, and these 2 tabs are Original and Estimated, and under Estimated Crr one HAS TO choose the road surface, the...

Re: Best accuracy of Newton+ (DPFM is present)

Coast downs do not function in recent releases of FW. I checked the release notes of Newton firmware and found no reference that Coast downs have been eliminated. I also checked the Newton manual 5.x and higher and Coast Downs is stil lthere as a menu item of Newton. Since I am now on 4.16 due to t...

Newton 5 => Newton 6 upgrade

Hi, I have a white Newton 5+ with some keys like Powerstroke, GT key. And I wonder whether to go for anewton 6. Not because of the rain, it does not hurt me, I never ride in rains (at least intentionally :-) ), but for the cross-winds. I have heard informally, that although N6 was not marketed as an...

Re: Best accuracy of Newton+ (DPFM is present)

I meant in 4.16 coastdowns is still there. EDIT: But it seems that it still there in Newton FW 5.x, too, just see the latest manual of Newton. 3/a Anyway does Check Calibration with DPFM override Crr number, too, doesnt it? 3/b what is your experience? Does DPFM or coastdowns add better accuracy? I ...

Re 3: is it true for Crr, too?

In other words: do coastdowns add anything to the accuracy of Crr vs the best accuracy method made by out and back ride corrected by Check Calibration?

Best accuracy of Newton+ (DPFM is present)

Hi John, To be honest I had forgotten a lot about the calibration of Newton(+) and therefore yesterday I read the Newton manual. Since now I use FW4.16 as a consequence of your kindness (see http://velocompforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=4596) I read both the manual for Newton with 4.x and that for N...

Re: Help me with Display contrast please!!

I already did the rollback and set the display contrast. It worked for me, so now I do not have to fully sit up in the seat of my recumbent to catch te numbers on the display. Thanks a lot for the help.

Re: Help me with Display contrast please!!

Yes, please provide the version which still has the display contrast option. Thank you for your kindness. What do I have to do to install an earlier version of the firmware? For the time being I think that it will cause no problem for me to lose the improvements of FW 5, but it may happen in a while...

And can you please disclose which is the last OS verion of Newton, which did stil include the "Display contrast" option? Because the change log (release notes) does not refer to it all. Re: Help me with Display contrast please!!

Is there any way to rollback the fw? I mean to install the OS 4.x to my Newton+ which now has 5.x?

I'd really appreciate if I could get back this feature, which was available for a long long time for the users.

Help me with Display contrast please!!

Before I upgraded my Newton+ from firmrware 4.x to 5.x I could set the contrast of the display. From the manual of OS 4.13 and higher: "Set Display Contrast: LCD" I have now a Newton+ 5, quite a long while, but it was only yesterday when I wanted to change the contrast. I could not find it neither i...

Re: New Front Mount

Hi, I am wondering whether to buy the two armed solo front mount for my third bike. What I could not figure out when I checked the pictures about it is whether I can set the angle between the arms or not. My third bike has a special twin J bars, so the angle of the bars is less than 180 degrees. Tha...

Re: Newton FW 5.18 is now available

I meant why there are two cal ride protocols alternating each other on Mewton+ with FW 5.18. But you are right when mention the lack of trust. Therefore I will repeat this sorta multiple cal ride test on my road bike, where the mount is properly positioned for more years and I intentionally make the...

Hi, Yesterday I updated my Newton+ to FW 5.18. Today I had my first ride with my new bike, a highracer recumbent. In FW 5 we don't offer the option to adjust the temperature bias. But you are correct that adding/subtracting a fixed amount from your reported temperatures is all that is required. I am someone who also needs/lacks this feature. I remembered that in FW4 there may have been a menu item in Newton+ w...

Configuring screens

Malfunction: if I choose 'blank' for the bottom part of the screen it has the same effect as opting for 'other data', so there is no way to make the bottom part blank. No difference between screen no 1 and 2.

If I choose blank for the top or for the middle it will be blank on Newton display in fact.

Resetting max/avg values of Newton

Maybe I repeatedly overlook something, but I do not know whether it is possible to get rid of the max/avg values without doing a hard reset. 1. I tried trip reset 2. I tried data reset 3. I searched for the word "reset'" in Newton manual 4. I searched for the word "reset'" even in Newton 4 manual. 5...

Pout enabled or not?

Hi, I surmised that after upgrading to Fw5 including GT key feature, the small 'bulb' next to 'pout enabled' in Edit profiles menu item will be light green to show that power output is enabled. When I had a Gen3 iAero I did have the light green bulb. Alas so far I have had no chance to test with my ...

Solved with some trials. I used Newton setup which did overwrite imperial to metric. And I used send profile again to make it sure that the original parameters will be used by Newton.

Re: Annoying Newton defaults to English measures

Hi all, I upgraded to 5.09 from 4.16 and got imperial measures. I tried to revert to metric with the help of Isaac (edit/edit profiles/send to device), but it has no effect on units. Since fast start is not available in 5.09, I have no clue how to get back the metric units on my Newton. Anybody know...
