Re: Powertap and Newton power not matching up
Circumstances.... I rode the bike for about 45 minutes. Then I I did a WindCal out of the wind. Then I did two out back rides on the same stretch of rode. Used the lap function to mark each out back ride. Then split each out back ride as a separate file which I shared in this thread. So, if you were...

Re: Powertap and Newton power not matching up
Would be great to know why my previous out and back rides did not yield accurate wind scaling values. I will need to give the power tap back and want to have a solid procedure if I need to change the position of the Newton or something like that.
Thanks, Aaron

Re: Powertap and Newton power not matching up
Followed your suggestion and it did have a big effect on the wind scaling. Picture attached.
Question- I'm wondering why the out and back rides I did the previous day did not set the wind scaling correctly? Any ideas?

Powertap and Newton power not matching up
I am borrowing a friends Powertap for a few weeks and wanted to take the opportunity to compare with my Newton 4. I did a 50 mile ride today and the power from each is pretty different. Would be great to know if something is up with my Newton 4 profile/calibration. Yesterday in anticipation of getti...

Power Tap Pro no speed
I'm using a Power Tap Pro with an iBike pro. I was able to pair via ANT+ with the dfpm. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the speed. It is reading 0mph. Any suggestion?

Thanks for looking at the file. Very helpful to better understand how everything is working.
Thanks on the intervals. First one went well. 2nd and 3rd felt like I said was mashing gears. Must have been tired.

Thanks for looking at this. I have attached my ride file from today. Some info on today's ride. Temp at start = 58F Temp at Finish = 65F Windcal at start = 0 Windcal at finish = -5 Questions 1. My biggest concern is to have accurate watt numbers during the ride. With the temp and wind cal procedure ...

Wind cal question
I have an iBike Newton. I think it is the original Newton. It isn't the 5 or 6. I am running firmware version 4.16 My procedure for riding with the Newton for each ride is to let the Newton aclimatize to the outdoor temp. Then, I do a wind cal (out of the wind) and then I ride. Sometimes during the ...

Re: Switch Profile After The Ride
Good question. I had changed my weight in my profile and I was trying to figure out how to apply the new weight to that ride. My weight only changed by 3 lbs so I don't think that it would effect the power by that much.
Still not sure how to apply a changed weight to a ride?
Thanks,
Aaron

When I choose Switch Profile After the Ride I get the a change in watts from 182 average to 155.2 but nothing has changed. It is the same profile for both before and after. I have attached a screen shot of the switch profile window and a copy of the ride file. I'm worried there is something wrong wi...

Re: New Newton firmware 602 coming
I'm starting an 8 week training program next week and am starting with a fitness test the end of this week. Is there a way for you to send me a new one and I'll send the old one back when I get the new one? Or a faster way to do a turn around? Or a way for me to reinstall firmware here? thanks, Aaron

Just did a hard reset. When I do that, the Newton restarts, I see a screen that says data setup, then it goes to the screen I attached above. Calculate FTP from shorter time trial
I've been using the Chris Carmichael book Time Crunched Cyclist for training with power. He has you do an all out 8 min test and then base your training rides off the average power from this test. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to calculate FTP based off an 8 min test rather than a 20 min X .95 o...

ibike Dash+Power questions
I currently have an iSport. I got an iphone about a year ago and am thinking of upgrading to an ibike dash+power. Couple of questions 1. Re: isport wattage readings are low - help
Thanks for your reply. Total weight is correct = 201. Aero = 0_490 Fric = 8_497. Do those numbers look correct? When you ride, what does your wind speed say? Went for a ride today. I did a cal wind at the beginning and about 30 minutes into the ride. I also redid my tilt calibration. Having done th...

Re: How to check the wind offset
You hit the nail on the head. With temp changes come wind offset changes. I make it a point to notice the temperature when I set off for a ride. If the temp rises or falls a few degrees I plan on doing another wind cal. So, at some convenient point like stopping for a break or stopping at a light I...

Re: How to check the wind offset
Thanks for the directions. Really helpful. I'll give it a go. You can always go back and check but no need to go crazy over it. How do I go back and check? I've read in other post that people have gone back to check mid ride and found the offset to be 3 or so. Especially when there is a temp differe...

How to check the wind offset
I have an iSport. What is the proper procedure for cal wind? 1. Go into setup 2. Go to Cal wind 3. Then what? Do I wait till it reads 0 or close to it and then press the center button? Or does it finish on its own? Also, How do I check the wind offset mid ride? What buttons do I click to get there? ...

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Total weight is correct = 201. Aero = 0_490 Fric = 8_497. Do those numbers look right?
I will look at the the wind speed vs bike speed on my next ride on Monday.
Thanks,

isport wattage readings are low - help
I've had the isport for about 1 month now and am consistently getting low wattage readings. One example - on the flats at 22mph with a minor head wind I'm registering 130 watts. Also, it seems that any time i maintain my speed the wattage drops steadily. Readings seem to be pretty good going uphill ...
