Salvage Ride File?

Post by SoaringBear »

Hi John,

Rode a race on gravel on Saturday and hoping you can help. I tried check calibration options but was not able to resolve. Hoping you can work some magic.

1. PP shows a tailwind the whole way. That day there was a strong wind (prob avg 20MPH). Tailwind was present mile 10-21. Headwind was present miles 34-54.
- Is there something amiss with wind measurement orifice?
- suggestions?
2. Noticed there is no power registered for first .5 mile. not a big deal, just noting it.
3. Weight was 226lbs rather than 238lbs. (riding without backpack full of water and without aero bars)

Thanks!

Hi John,

Weather service says wind avg was 15MPH.

from weather.gov
WIND (MPH)
HIGHEST WIND SPEED 26 HIGHEST WIND DIRECTION S (200)
HIGHEST GUST SPEED 35 HIGHEST GUST DIRECTION S (200)
AVERAGE WIND SPEED 15.1

Hi John,

For some of it, yes. This may not help, but for the last 10 miles I rode with no one else.

Thank you

The ride file shows a significant tailwind for the entire ride, including the last 10 miles.

Please do a short (3 miles is fine) ride, out-and-back. Please post that ride file.

Hi John,

Hope you had an excellent weekend. Something came to mind about the race. There was a race placard attached to the handlebars and right behind the PP.

I did a reset and then a 4-mile out and back ride on smooth asphalt, with gusty wind.

After the out and back, I rode a long ride. I have attached that file too.

Please let me know if you have any questions or any further directions.

Thank you,

SB

Your O&B ride shows that you wind cal was off. You have a constant headwind.

I corrected this with the Check Calibration feature.

I then applied the corrected profile to your 37 mile ride.

Files are attached.

Thank you.

As I ride gravel 98% of the time, will this configuration on smooth asphalt work for my typical riding surface?

I've attached two profiles: one for your gravel bike and another for your road bike.

You can load both into your PP (on different profiles) but you will need to use Isaac to switch manually to the kind of ride you're doing.

I've also adjusted your 37 mile ride, assuming you did this on gravel.
