PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate
Have enjoyed incorporating power into my training and the wealth of data I get. Looking for some help with calibration.Have had about a dozen rides, so I know my Garmin sensors and Garmin 520 communicate fine.
Attempting to calibrate, my unit does not operate per the provided instructions.
1. Wake up sensors. Can see them all on Garmin
2.Turn on PP in sync mode by holding button down 4 seconds. Unit turns on and correctly flashes green
3.Ride around to get successful pairing. Even if I pedal up to 20MPH, unit still doesn't sync. Yellow never glows. What happens is light continues to blink green, then the light goes out. Don't know what this means. The two possibilities are supposed to be solid yellow or solid red.
4a. I tried clicking button
4b. I tried powering off and back on and repeating 1-3.
4c. Tried just turning on with single click and light goes solid yellow,
5. I click button on PP and ride to get blinking red/green. Never got blinking red/green
6. Rode and power started going up 1,2,3 ... but it did not stop at 50 went past it. Kept riding and it did stop at 100.
7. Did test ride
8. Provided cal file and test ride for evaluation but have not heard back. Because there was no true out and back ride, I am not confident in the calibration.
A) What's next? Do I have a faulty unit that needs replacing?
B) Battery does not last even a week when turned off. Once, battery had a full charge. Went for ride 5 days later and power lasted 45 minutes. But per velocomp "NOTE: new PowerPod V3 takes about 3 months..."

Same thing with steps 4c to 7. But I did a cal ride, when extracted to Isaac. KB

Calibrated this morning and it went more nominally. cal and ride file are included.
Power readings are high. Thanks for the assistance.
Procedure used

I am planing a ride with about 7000' of climb tomorrow and would like to limit/monitor my power using PP. If we don't have time to get a good calibration today, can I use the "better" calibration for good enough? Or, I pulled another calride and ride file from 7/19 in case they are better.

1) Connect PP to Isaac
2) Place profile on desktop
3) In Isaac, go to Edit/Edit Profiles
4) Click Import. Select profile and open it
5) The new profile should be highlighted. Click "Send to Device" and profile will be transferred to your PP

A few parameters are out of bounds so it would not load. See the attachment. What do you recommend I adjust the values to?

Do the following:
1) Connect your PP to Isaac
2) Go to Edit/Edit Profiles
3) Click "Extract from Device". This will extract the profile currently used
4) Click the "Advanced" tab. You will see 4.524 as your wind scaling
5) Type 3.017 into the Wind Scaling window
6) Click Send to Device
This will put the correct wind scaling into your profile.

Thanks for the support. The ride had the 4.524 value as I had already left before the correction was sent. I see that wind scaling in attached file ended up at 3.017.
The ride went pretty well except for one thing. When the bike was at a slight negative or positive slope the power reading would be 20w, or 40w or 50w. From experience, I think I was applying 100-150w in these conditions. Scenario would be coming down a hill and slope leveling off. You often have an idea of how to correct.
I currently have the PP attached to a fitting that attaches to bottom of Redshift aerobats. My Garmin is attached with a rubber spacer. The PP is attached with a hard metal spacer. I was wondering if the rubber spacer might be dampening the vibration/messing things up. I could take off the Redshift bars and attach the PP directly to handlebars. https://redshiftsports.com/utility-moun ... r-aerobars
Interesting. slope ranged from -19.9% and 18.9%. PP shows 5110 feet of climb. Garmin said 4485. Which would you trust more.
at 2:27 PP shows me coasting for an extended period. Don't know why but the cadence sensor stopped reporting. (Hadn't stopped riding-it just stopped. I was kind of surprised when it came back online.)
P.S. 523w maximum recorded isn't a lie. Out in the country a lot of dogs give chase. This power was to get away from a dog that looked like a cross between a pit bull and a Great Dane. This dog had some long-legged speed!

At mile 37.5 your PP was bumped, or rotated. This caused low watts for the next 90 seconds, until PP recalibrated itself.
It is better to have PP mounted directly to the handlebars.
Climbing algorithms can be different. Pick one, but then stick with it!
I see the cadence dropout. I don't know why it happened. You might want to replace the battery in your cadence sensor.
Your wind readings look fine, so I would not change wind scaling.

The low power reading when getting back on power wasn't the 2-3 second delay I have gotten used to. Under power the readings were 20-50watts for 10 seconds under power. It was odd.

Rode 55 miles over weekend and there was what seemed to be strong headwind or sometimes strong crosswind in the second file (18 miles). Geared down and pedaled harder. PP was recorded between 105-110w and didn't fluctuate much even if I felt like I was pedaling harder. I am sure it can be elusive, but experience with PP, the perceived effort of 14MPH into windy conditions felt like 155w. Could you look at the files and give me your perspective and let me know if you have any ideas/suggestions?
