Newton gets very hot when 'charging'

Post by aytchkay »

I plugged in my Newton today to download a ride but it would not "connect". I tried another cable but still no connection. Then my Mac issued a warning to "disconnect USB device using excessive power" (or similar message). I disconnected it and noticed that the Newton was VERY HOT at the bottom portion of the unit.

What could be the issue? I could not see the "charging" symbol when I pressed the left button and Isaac did not show "connected". One thing I noticed is that the cable receptor is not obvious which way the cable goes in. I'm always guessing and push it in the way shows the least resistance and it always seemed to work.

Any ideas??

Please email tore@velocomp.com

Your Newton may require some factory TLC.
