I did a fast setup followed by a tilt cal and then a ride cal. I know my cda should be around the mid 300's (.350) but after my cal ride I did do some coast downs and got some really strange and/or high numbers for cda. I have posted the cal ride file and 2 other short out and back files. Just trying to make sure I get the right numbers in my unit. Would anyone like to take a look at the files for me? Thanks
Another cal/setup question
Re: Another cal/setup question
Here is the last short out and back to go with the first 2.
Re: Another cal/setup question
Lots of things are going on here:
1) you're riding in a place where there is a small but continuous uphill/downhill. For Cal Ride it's no problem; below is your cal ride data. It looks like you ride uphill, then turn around and go back.
2) For coast downs, even small hills can be a big problem. It's difficult to do coast downs on a non-level road. For good results you have to ride uphill, finish the coast down, ride back to the original starting point, and repeat. It's a pain to do coast downs; this is why we have reemphasized it so much.
3) Your measured CdA (.478) is too high. The Est CdA result is much better (around 0.35). I would create a new profile, using the Isaac software Setup Assistant. You should be able to preserve your Cal Ride measurements.

Re: Another cal/setup question
Ok, I did change my cda back to .350 already. If I use the other 2 short out and backs and do the "check cal", what would my wind scaling be? I took the cal ride and the 2 out and backs and got the average wind scaling between the 3. I beleive it came out to .727. Does that seem right? And the tilt was "-0.7 I guess also. Do these numbers look good then? Thanks.
My old gen 3 would show no power on downhills most of the time. The Newton was right after the cal ride so so far I am pleased. thanks again

Re: Another cal/setup question
On another note, I did my coast downs after finishing the cal ride. I was doing them going up about a 1% hill, then turning around and going back down to the same spot and then would do another one in the same place I did the previous ones. It still gave me really high cda numbers. Why??
