help with "bricked"PP

Post by rotenapple »

I purchased a GPS upgrade for my PP and Isaac suggested a firmware update as well. During the update process Isaac stopped recognising the PP and the PP charging light went out. Since then it has been unresponsive. I am informed it has "bricked". Has anyone found a way back from this? Does it happen often - this was an early model, Ant+ only, no bluetooth option.
I have tried re-setting it by holding down the button for up to a minute. Tried plenty of USB cables too.

Appreciate any further suggestions.

I accept it is now well out of warranty but reluctant to buy a replacement if folk have had the same problem with newer models.

Thanks.

This is a very, very, very rare problem.

Thanks John. Indeed I can only find a few mentions of similar problems in the forum using various search strategies. What actually happens? Does it fry the PCB? I have ordered a replacement and passed the old one on to a friend to dissect before it goes to the recycling centre.

The firmware update was interrupted by your computer. Why, I cannot say. The effect is that the PP is no longer functional.
