Excessive power measured on 1st ride after calibration

I did my calibration ride yesterday and after the calibration was complete the power seemed fine.
Last night I had to move the PowerPod about 5mm left on my handle bar as one of my cables was catching on it. (Not blocking wind port though.
Today I went for a ride and right off the mark I noticed something very wrong. The PP was reading way too much.
I was getting 700w on a flat road in my easiest gear. Totally impossible. I small climb and I reached 1400w. I stopped and tried to reset the PP but it still over read. I've checked the forums and it seems as though moving the PP can cause this.
I only did 7km because of the fault. After about 10-11 min the power did get a bit better. I'm hoping it was just the movement of the PP. I also read that the PP will check the calibration for the first 8 min.
I'm hoping that this won't happen on every ride as it will skew my data considerably. I'm hoping that as long as I keep the PP in exactly the same position it won't happen again.
Any comments would be welcome. Would it be worth it to reset the PP and re-calibrate???
Then another question which ties in to this one. As I don't want to move the PP too much, would it be okay to leave the PP on my bike when I am transporting it on the back of a car on a bike rack?
Thanks
