Do I need to adjust the profile settings ?

Post by Dave »

I have performed the calibration and completed my first after ride.
I am very happy with the power numbers, they appear to be what i would expect.
However I do have one question.
In other posts they is talk of setting the Wind Scaling to 1.7 when using the combo mount.
I have checked this after my ride and it appears to show 1.0
Should I change this to 1.7 ?

Many thanks

In your ride file you'll note that your wind speed is always below bike speed. This suggests that your wind scaling factor is too low.

The standard wind scaling factor for PowerPod, positioned on a combo mount, is 1.7. The higher the wind scaling factor, the more sensitive the wind sensor will be.

Your wind scaling factor was set to 1.0, causing the wind sensor to be insufficiently sensitive to the wind, causing wind speed to always be below bike speed.

I took your profile, changed its wind scaling factor to 1.7, then applied it to your ride file. Your wind data looks perfect now and your watts are correct also!

The corrected profile is attached. You can load this into your PowerPod and all will be well!

By the way, the 1.7 wind scaling factor is pre-loaded into profile 2 of your PowerPod...
