Zero Watt question

Post by qrasco »

First off, I am really enjoying my PowerPod. You know us cyclist, we like to have data to analyze and this being my first power meter, I find it very interesting.

I have my PowerPod synced to my Garmin 510 and I find it takes around 8 seconds for the reading to hit zero after I stop pedaling. For example, when I am coasting to a red light, the power reading will slowly work its way down to zero as oppose to immediately go to zero once I stop pedaling. I have 3 second avg and "real time" power displayed on the Garmin.

Is this normal? I uploaded a ride in case case that helps.

Thanks!

Quentin

Ride file data is always helpful!

Your PowerPod is well calibrated and working correctly.

As you can see from your ride file, whenever you stop pedaling (cadence equals zero) your power instantly drops to zero. One example is attached. The data shown in the ride file is exactly the data being transmitted to your Garmin.

Also, you have PowerPod Dynamic Power Smoothing turned off. This is another factor that will cause power data transmitted from PowerPod to drop instantly to zero.

If it takes 8 seconds for your Garmin to drop to zero power, then there is a problem with the Garmin settings. It sounds like it is set to 10 second filtering.
