Calibration Ride

Post by grahamtballard »

After having mounted my Powerpod and pairing it with the sensors and head unit I set out for a calibration ride and I am not sure if I did it correctly. As I set out on my ride I pressed the button thinking I had just switched it on. It almost immediately started reading the calibration percentage, when it got to 50% I expected to have to stop and turn around but it just carried on increasing the percentage. After it got to 100% the light briefly flashed red/green I think then it just started giving power figures. As this is at odds with the instructions supplied I am concerned that I have done something wrong, or has the calibration process changed?

If you were riding uphill, or slowly, at the 50% point the unit would have continued.

You can post a ride file from after your cal ride and I will look at it.

Hi John,
Thanks for coming back to me so quickly, I'm not absolutely sure if I have done this right but I think I have attached the ride files, there seems to be a lot for just one short ride. Also I should have said in my original post, I did read on the DC Rainmaker test that an out and back ride was no longer needed that's why I was a bit puzzled. Having said all that the devise did seem to be reading my power OK.

Your cal ride did not work properly, so I used the "Check Calibration" command to fix things.

Load the attached profile into your PP and all should be well.

Hi I think I am getting there now but I have one quick question. Is it necessary to re calibrate my PP every time I make a minor adjustment in my settings?

I'm not sure what settings you are adjusting, nor how minor they are. Please provide examples and I will let you know.
