Speed/Power Spikes, Ride File Empty

Post by thooey »

On my ride today, I noticed that my power, distance and speed numbers were really high for what I was doing. I also had my garmin 510 on so I could compare it to those numbers. I wrote down some totals and averages from the iBike before I synced to Isaac, and then compared to Garmin. iBike listed total distance and average speed about 25% higher than garmin. Then when I tried to sync with Isaac all the totals were at zero. So I have no file to upload.

One thing that changed was I used the trainer yesterday and had to swap out my magnet between wheels, but I put it back on my outdoor wheel and turned of Trainer mode on the iBike.

Any guidance on what I should try before my next ride would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, it was empty and it didn't save. I can try another ride tomorrow.

Here are two rides I did over the weekend.

In both rides, my total miles was higher in the ibike as compared to what garmin recorded. The second ride I couldn't compare speed/distance in real time as the iBike itself was frozen in the opening screen 'Fast Record'. It really seems like it comes down to surges in speed on the iBike that makes my power go up and also my total distance, but I can't say for sure. I did notice that Isaac made some changes to the second file compared to what was originally on the ibike, such as TSS.

If you want my files from Garmin, what type of file will this Forum accept? My garmin recorded 29.7 miles and 68.2 miles for the two attached rides.

Thanks for your help.

Your speed sensor/magnet are misaligned, causing problems with speed readings. Note the spikes in your speed readings... (no filtering)

John,

Thanks for your help. I made adjustments to my speed sensor and rode again this morning. pretty flat ride so shouldn't see many spikes. Does this look like it's fixed?

It's easy to check this for yourself. In Isaac click on the button to the right of the filtering time and select 0:00:00. This shows you the raw data.

As you can see, the speed spikes are gone; you're back in great shape!
