I'm currently on FW version 5.02 and have seen this happen a few times.
The Newton is set to Profile 1
The bike is the bike that = Profile 1
I turn on my Garmin and let it sync up
I pedal the bike to get the speed / cadence sensor turned on and transmitting
Turn on the iBike and wait a while for it to grab the correct profile
iBike does not see the profile (little dot still flashing)
Go into Setup
Go to Profile
Change profile to another one (Profile 2)
Change Profile back to original Profile (Profile 1)
Now the profile is recognized
Bottom line is that I have experienced problems with the auto profile recognition.
Obviously I can deal with it and know how to get around this but I'd be interested to know if others have seen this issue and if there is a fix coming.
Thanks,
Robert
FW 5 and auto profile
Re: FW 5 and auto profile
rstrom and iBike,
I have seen a very similar occurrence once. In my case, after not finding the sensors for awhile, I went into setup and the profile was sitting on a different one from the bike. I had not changed bikes since prior ride.
So I then manually selected the correct profile and off I went.

Re: FW 5 and auto profile
There is a small bug in APS that causes it occasionally to miss a profile change.
The workaround is to leave your Newton "off" until just prior to riding. Then wake it up and it should select profiles just fine.
We will fix the bug in the next FW update.
