Accuracy of set up

I am really working on my ibike settings to get them as accurate as possible. One question I had is around Issac SW, what you see when you download the ride and then what the analyze ibike setting shows....on this ride, the SW showed 139NP, the Analyze showed 164NP.

As I study the variables, the wind speed seems high...I just want this more accurate. I do ride a TT bike so not sure how accurate the CdA and Crr are...they are guesses.

Here's what is going on:

1) Your Isaac software is set (in Preferences) to "Automatically Analyze Route". I can tell this because out-and-back annotations are included in the elevation profile

2) Auto Analyze is automatically adjusting your wind speed so that net-wind on the out-and-back is zero. This produces average watts of 128.2

3) To return to your original ride file, use the "Analyze/Return to Original Download" feature.

4) Your original ride had 156W average. However, your wind speed is pretty consistently above your bike speed. This is why watts are higher.

5) Your original ride shows headwinds both on the out and back portion, in the same location. This does not seem correct.

6) So, the lower watts number seems correct.

7) I have adjusted your profile on the assumption that you did not have stiff headwinds.

I think the RWS is not working....I have another thread about this, please check out the ride I attached. The ground wind for this ride under "analyse wind" shows wind in "green" at -8 to +8 which seems accurate for that morning. I kept the RWS inserted for entire ride.


Regarding this ride, while I did start and end at the same location, It wasn't a straight out and back. It contained a couple of loops.

I generally have it turned off. If your Newton is dialed-in it is not necessary to use this feature.

The ride was a straight out and back...about 9 miles in I unplugged the RWS, the average power prior to this was like 90-95 watts, once I unplugged the watts shot up and I averaged 140ish - same effort.

The first part of your ride includes a lot of downhills. That is why watts are low. The second part of your ride includes lots of uphills; that is why your watts are higher (that, and the too-high wind readings).
