iAero as head unit for Quarq

Post by mirandag_01 »

Hi,

I have an iPro unit at the moment. I am looking at getting a Quarq CinQo and using my iBike as the head unit. Do I need to do a firmware upgrade to the iAero? How much will this cost?

Also, how does it work as a head unit? Will it only pick up the ANT+ power signal from the Quarq and stop estimating power itself? Is it a simple process of just running the scan to locate the new sensors and off I go?

Thanks,

Miranda

Yes, you will need to upgrade to the iAero, $129.

The upgraded unit will display Quarq power and also continue to record iAero data, so you'll get the best of both worlds.

Yes, you simply scan and ride.

So, just to be clear, all power related display on the bike would be based on the DFPM (like NP, TSS, etc)?

Scott, yes that is how it works. When you are paired with a DFPM all the realtime data displayed on the iAero will be from the DFPM. When you download the data into the iBike software you have the choice of switching between iBike Power Data or DFPM Data, and the statistics (NP, TSS etc) will change accordingly.

If, like me, you see significant differences between your DFPM (I own two Quarqs) data and your iAero data and want to tweak your iAero profile to make the two data sets match up more closely, you might want to follow the discussion, "Editing Profiles for Dummies." Some of us have been waiting (a long time :( ) for guidelines on how to edit profiles ourselves or for the release of the rumored "Boyd Wizard" that is supposed to simplify the procedure.

Seems like that would be a nice software feature; analyze iBike profile compared with DFPM measurements (over the course of a ride of course)

OK, did my maiden voyage with my DFPM, and I am seeing pretty different results compared to my iBike.

Looking at the comparison page I am seeing this:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
R^2
------------------------------------------------------------------------
|iBike Aer|
iBike Aero| 1.000| 0.633
| 0.728| 1.000

R^2 calculation is row w.r.t. column.

So, how can I "dial in" my profile to give me better results?

Please post a ride file with iBike and DFPM data

I posted it on the GEn III troubleshooting forum. Thanks John.
