Recommendation for sticky tape needed

Post by leonsrocketcar »

My iBike sticky tape/pad are just about wore out (from moving it from different HBs I was testing over recent months).

Has anybody tried anything different or what do you recommend. (I suspect my recent tilt issues are due to this issue). I expect there is something at the local HW store I can pick up.

I'm pretty sure you can pick up 3M tape at just about any retail store, including Walgreen's.... They even come in squares.

Thanks rIchard, that was my fallback just to go and look for something that was similar to the violin shaped sticky iBike provides. I tested velcro and while it sticks great, it does (barely move), so I ruled it out.

I bought some 3M two-sided tape which had the thinnest foam between the 2 plies of tape..I think they called it "permanent" tape. When I put it on my 'bar' there WAS slight movement (rocking) of the mount, which I think is from the fact that there is foam in between there! Isn't it also there on the original tape provided? How do you get it "rock solid" if there's foam in there??

Just bought the 3m from walgreens since they are next to my bldg. Will try it this pm and compare my tilt details between the last week and the next few days. I am really out of choices since my original sticky foam is dead.

Lemme know if you're coming up for either Min Wells or out to Ft Davis.

I didn't install the 3M because when I went to remove my iBike from my bike, I noticed that it moves in the mount. Not the mount moving, but the iBIke has play in the mount. THink I will open a new thread for this one.

Decided to give MTB a try and going to Warda rather than MW and skipping MtD cuz of the long haul out there and the shop needs me to fill in that weekend cuz our guys are going to Sea Otter. I most like ly will not be up that way till State Crit in FW.
