crosswind

One of my curiosities about the Newton is how it calculates crosswind power. Here's a example from today.

You can see the one short N/S leg and if you compare that to the Newton ride one can see a pretty nice crosswind for the ride. I guess my question is if one was to do a coast down in a good cross wind would the power requirements be so similar where it's a non-issue?
