Rain damage

Post by velobob »

:( Last weekend I rode with my Newton for the first time in a heavy rain shower. I was surprised that it kept working, but then noticed that water was accumulating around the edges of the display. When I got home, I shook out the water and left the unit to dry. Two days later it was completely dead. I hooked it up to the USB cable, the screen switched on with "data error" message and lots of random numbers, then settled down to normal and the unit recharged. But since then it hasn't been working properly, although I redid the entire setup and did two calibration rides. Problem seems to be the slope sensor - it is giving fairly random readings, doesn't indicate significant slope when climbing steep hills (so power readings are correspondingly low).
What to do? Should I return the unit for repair/replacement? Thought this one was supposed to be waterproof when attached to the mount.
