Power measurement works intermittently

Post by Jonathan »

Hi,

I bought an iBike Newton a couple of weeks ago and have installed it on both my road bike and on my TT bike. The installation on the TT bike is done with RWS and the RWS is mounted on the aero bars using cable ties. The first calibration is done on the road bike and seems to work fine. Afterwards i've improved the accuracy by using Isaac and created a second profile for the TT bike.

However, when i mount it on the TT bike there is no Power showing except for some short periods of time. Both speed and cadence is shown though. Do i need to perform a cal ride for the TT bike aswell? Could it be the RWS that is mounted to close to my hands?

I can try to get some pictures of my setup and upload them here.

Best regards,
Jonathan

Oh, of course. I thought I attached that the first time. Here it comes.

It looks like your aero bars aren't stiffly attached to the handlebars. If your aero bars can rotate AT ALL, then the power readings can be intermittent.

After 45 minutes it looks like things stiffened up and readings were normal.

Make sure your aero bars cannot rotate on your handlebars.

Hi again,

It seems like you were right. I'm currently using the iBike TT-kit and when the iBike is located on the mount it can actually move a bit. To make sure it gets stuck i added some electrical tape underneath it which got it there. Unfortunately its still a bit shaky (as you can see in the attached file). Could you have a look and see if it's the same problem?

Thanks for the support!

/Jonathan

It still is wiggling around a bit. It shifted around KM 26, then held steady after that. The slope offset correction caught the move and corrected things after a few KM.
