P_out data has an anomaly

Post by Davis6022 »

I have the GT key, so P_out is being read by my Garmin Edge 500. When I upload the ride from the Garmin, everything looks great except for one power value. This number has varied from about 45000 to 64000 watts for a one second reading. This anomaly doesn't show up when I upload the same ride from the Newton to Isaac. The anomaly appears to occur right at the end of the calibration ride. Any idea what's causing this?

Taking a closer look, it appears the anomalous power reading occurs just after the cal ride, a few seconds into the workout ride. Perhaps this occurs when the Newton is switching over from the cal ride to the workout ride. The other thing to note is that the Garmin shows zero cadence before, during, and after the anomaly, and the power is shown as zero before and after the anomaly. I haven't done anymore cal rides since I finally got a good one completed, and the anomaly hasn't shown up since.

Looks like this was addressed with the recent FW upgrade. 8-)
