Evidence of connecting the Newton to a Mac?

Post by Ratman »

I just took delivery of my Newton and have connected it to my Mac via the enclosed USB cable. Is it normal that there's no desktop icon and no entry under the Finder demonstrating that the Newton had been "mounted?" Also, is there no message on the Mac or the Newton itself that it is charging?

Thanks.

The Newton is not designed to act as a storage device to the host computer, so it does not mount and create a storage icon. To check that it is connected & charging, you can use the SW to download a ride or get the serial number. If the unit is connected to the computer, it is charging. You can go into the Newton's setup menu to see the battery indicator.
