Strange behaviour at start of ride file

Post by Steve_Davidson »

Had a strange issue today with my Newton where it showed zero power for most of the first 8 minutes of a ride and a few sporadic low power bursts. The remainder of the ride showed some reasonable readings when going up some hills but reverted to the very low/zero power with a few bursts later in the ride. I assumed that I had put the wrong profile in so rode up and down a stretch of road just to see what the wind readings were and they were negative in both directions so I figured that I had the wrong profile. When I down loaded the file and changed the profile to the correct one plus analyzed the route, the first 8 minute section showed an average power of over 750W and a max of 1400. I can do 1400W but didn't on this occasion.

The remainder of the ride file looked about what I expected so it's really the first part where something has went off. I had the unit on the bike outside for 20 minutes before the ride and done a zero wind offset and set the altitude.

I have attached the files.

Note I'm on a cross bike with full winter gear.

This is indicative of a wildly "off" tilt cal.

After 5 minutes of riding the FW figured things out.

Please check your tilt calibration and let us know if this problem continues.

Thanks. I've checked that and it looks like it was off. I didn't have the slope checked on the screen display but it is quite clear now.

cheers
