Problem, app on ipod4 doesn't find idash

Hi velocomp,
my brand new just out of the box dash+power wont connect to my ipod 4... When i get to tilt calibration the app happily tells me that i need to be connected to the dash... Everything after that similarly fails. However i know the ipod is correctly installed in the dash becuase as soon as i plu it in the ipod realises it is being charge by the battery in the mount.
What am i doing wrong?
Or do i need to send teh dash+power back for you guys to check?
using an ipod touch 4 iOS5.1.1, downloaded latest version of ibike app from the appstore.
looking forward to gettng this going, looks much easier to use than my ibike gen III or newton...
