Garmin 500 vs. iDash: over the river and through the woods?

We're noticing something very interesting: the GPS tracking in the iBike Dash is definitely superior to the Garmin 500.

iBike Dash GPS information is in red; Garmin 500 is in blue. This is an out-and-back ride, so both products had two passes over the same roads.

In particular, the Garmin 500 often loses its way in forested roads. We see this consistently...

Note that the iBike Dash has no problem staying on the road, in identical circumstances.

Looks like the 500 needs to learn how to "Follow the Leader"...
