Isaac crashes on new Mac Powerbook Pro

Post by blp »

Hi guys;

I'm a bit stymied here.

I have a new Macbook Pro. I did the Mac copy from the old Mac to the new one via Time Machine.

I tried to launch Isaac, the progress bar goes all along the bottom of the splash screen to the end, then Isaac crashes. I un-installed Isaac and downloaded and new installer and did a clean install of Isaac. Same thing.

What should I try?

Specs: Macbook Pro 13" Retina
2.6 Ghz i5
8 Gb RAM
OS 10.12.6

Isaac V4.1.1.0

Thanks in advance.

I deleted the crash report because it won't do us any good...

Isaac is running just fine on all our Macs with High Sierra.

Likely there is a corrupted file in your (hidden) iBike folder. We will send you instructions privately to correct it.

Hidden iBike folder?

Please send me instructions, too, as I am also having a reliable crash-on-startup from Isaac 4.1.1 on maOS High Sierra.

Thanks,

In my case, the instructions that I got sent to remove some old settings files did not help. What DID help was looking at the crash report and seeing that Isaac received a SIGABRT while trying to load dynamic libraries. I saw /Library/Frameworks/nipalu.framework in the report, so I went to /Library/Frameworks and looked. Sure enough, there were some old libraries lying there that had not been removed or replaced when I updated Isaac. Forcibly removing them fixed my problem:

(In Terminal.app)
cd /Library/Frameworks
sudo rm -rf NI-RPC.framework/ VISA.framework/ nipalu.framework/ nixerces.framework/

And then, back in the GUI, reopen Isaac for Mac in the Applications folder.

I tried this, and the program did open. However, I'm trying to set up my new power pod using the USB cable and the Isaac software won't find the device. I have a 2017 MacBook, so I have to use the USB-C adaptor cable.

The adaptor should have no effect on Isaac operation.
