Newton 5 not connecting to Isaac

Despite a hard reset(actually 2), changing USB cables, changing USB ports, quitting and restarting Isaac(twice), shutting down and restarting my Mac, my Newton does not want to connect to Isaac and as such I am unable to do anything with the data on the device.
Let me add that I installed Isaac on a second computer and I have the same problem
Do you have any advice?
