Odd power/slope readings

Post by jefferycahill »

I raced in a crit this past weekend and downloaded my ride data to find some very strange data(files attached). The Speed and Cadence data seems to be accurate as well as the Elevation profile. The Slope data is showing between -1% and -11% for the entire ride, and the power is similarly off.

Also strange was that the computer seemed to split the ride into 3 files. The file names end in 13, 16, and 18, but only the first file has the first 13 miles, the second file the next 3 and the last file only 1+ miles. The race probably ended in the second file with the rest being a short ride home. It's no problem to merge the files, just wondering why it may have done that.

I haven't yet ridden to see if the issue is still present, but will do so tonight. Is there any way to correct the slope and determine the true power readings?

Thanks,

It's possible the problem was a low battery; when battery voltage is low the Newton will automatically split the ride file.

I suggest doing a hard reset of your Newton, then trying a 10 minute ride.

Please post the ride file.

We will see if we can repair your ride 13 mile ride file, but it looks like it is pretty badly damaged.
