How to install Isaac on a Mac

In its infinite wisdom Apple has, in recent versions of its OS, made it MORE DIFFICULT to install software. How? By changing your Mac's security settings, so that third party software (such as Isaac) can't be installed easily.

Fortunately this is an easy thing to correct.

Do the following steps on your Mac BEFORE STARTING THE ISAAC FOR MAC INSTALLATION PROCESS:

1) Download Isaac for Mac

2) Double click on the download. A pop-up window will appear

3) Drag-drop the Isaac for Mac icon into the Applications icon

4) Go to your Applications folder. You will find Isaac application there

5) HOLD DOWN THE "CONTROL" key on your keyboard, then click on the Isaac icon. A new pop up window will appear

6) Now, move your mouse over the "Open" option. The word "Open" will be highlighted

7) Now, click on "Open" to start the installation process

8) There are three files that need to be installed: Isaac program, NI Visa drivers, and SI Labs drivers

9) After Isaac installs, you will get another pop-up window, for NI Visa

8) Follow the same Control-click-open method to install NI Visa

9) If, during your driver install, you see this message, click the "Not Now" button:

9) You'll next need to restart your computer. After the restart, launch Isaac. You'll next see the SI Labs driver window appear.

10) Follow the same Control-click-open method to install SI Labs drivers

11) After the SI Labs driver installation, you will need to restart your computer one final time

It goes through the install process, then says starting isaac. It never asks to install drivers, just suddenly quits and I get the screen to send to apple.

I never could reach this step 5

5) During software installation Isaac will instruct you to install two “drivers”. Use the same “control-open-click” method for each of these two drivers installs.

For some frustrating reason, my Newton charges when connected to macbook but Isaac software never recognized it as connected.

Just took the Newton from a 6 mo vacation, might this be some hardware issues? It seems to work fine, just wanted to connect trough computer to update all settings and correct profiles (which is easier on a computer than on the Newton itself) before starting riding again.

Any Ideas?

You need to update this for macOS Sierra - THE METHOD SUGGESTED DOESN'T WORK!!

Hmm...we have been running Isaac on all our Mac Sierra machines (5 or 6 of them) without problems.

Is yours a first-install (that is, you've never installed Isaac on this Mac before) or is it an update?

Mac OS 10.12.4. Can't install the update even using control click. Says the file is damaged. No option to ignore.

We've had one customer try this procedure, with success.

Thanks, it worked. It's a little awkward though.

I think something is "wrong" with Apple's latest update. After my 10.12.4 install I had zero issues with Isaac, but the past two days I have spent 4 hours on the phone with Adobe and Parallels, trying to get their formerly-perfectly-functioning apps to work. It turns out that something was damaged in my macOS permissions. This is something, I am told, that the update did...
