Apple Lion compatability

Post by velobob »

I upgraded my Mac to the most recent Apple operating system. Now the iBike software crashes when trying to download ride data. Seems like you need to do a software modification for the new system. What is being planned?

I also upgraded to Mac Lion but had no problems.

It is important that your Mac USB drivers are the most current. The most current drivers are attached. Please install them and see if things are OK.

I just did an clean install of iBike Mac 5.1.0 (full version) on a new Macbook Air, with Lion installed.

No problems.

I strongly suspect that old USB drivers are causing problems for some customers. Lion enables 64 bit processing, and the old USB drivers support 32 bit only.

Mac users upgrading to Lion need to install the latest NI-VISA driver: http://www.ibikesports.com/iBike_update ... me_mac.zip

Many thanks to John and Travis for wonderful support on a Sunday!! I sent an email to John, telling him about my Lion problem. He responded very quickly, put Travis in touch with me, who directed me to the lastest NI-VISA update. Did that, everything worked perfectly. On a Sunday!

Travis - my software (now 5.1.3) has been working fine for a month, after installing the latest drivers as you recommended. Then yesterday it didn't work again - another driver issue. So I reinstalled the USB drivers from the file in your post, and then the software worked fine. This AM I launched the software again (to reset the time and date after putting a new battery in the iBike), and now it was looking for the old Silcon Labs driver once more. So for the third time I reinstalled the NL Visa Runtime for iBike 2, and the problem was fixed.

Any idea what is up here? Why doesn't the software work consistently? Do I need to remove the older drivers? If so, how?

Thanks in advance.

HI velobob,

There's a newer version of the SiLabs USB driver that you might not have. Try this and see if it helps: http://www.ibikesports.com/iBike_update ... _9.dmg.zip

Otherwise, it might be worth trying to manually uninstall the NI Visa Runtime driver and reinstall from scratch. There is a file named "Uninstall.txt" located in ":Applications:National Instruments:NI-VISA" on your computer that gives directions for removing the NI-VISA driver. After you remove the files and reboot your Mac, reinstall the driver found here: http://www.ibikesports.com/iBike_update ... me_mac.zip
