iBike is dead after I change batteries in a wireless sensor

Post by Velocomp »

For iBike users who have had their wireless iBikes for a year or more, at some point the sensor batteries will die.

How do you know when a sensor battery is dying?

1) You completely lose your speed, cadence, or HR signals.

2) Your speed/cadence/HR signals become wrong, just crazy-wrong.

3) Your speed/cadence/HR signals appear, then disappear, then magically re-appear.

Well, the sensible thing to do in any of these situations is to change sensor batteries. Then, the trouble might really begin...

Your iBike no longer works at all.

WHY?

After you change a sensor battery, the sensor with the new battery creates a new digital "identity" for itself and its old wireless identity is no longer valid. Yet, your iBike searches for the old wireless sensor code that no longer exists.

FRUSTRATION BUILDS...

So, what to do?

After changing ANY wireless sensor battery do the following:

1) After inserting the new sensor battery, wake up ALL sensors by waving a magnet across them (if an HR sensor, hold the strap in your hands for a few seconds)

2) WAIT ONE MINUTE, while your new sensor(s) determines its new digital identity

3) Make sure ALL of your sensors are awake, even sensors where the batteries have not been replaced

4) Attach your iBike to your wireless mount

5) After waiting one minute, press-hold the up and bottom arrow of your iBike. The word "Scan" will appear.

6) Your new wireless sensor IDs will appear and all will be well.

REMEMBER: YOU NEED TO DO THESE STEPS WHENEVER ANY WIRELESS SENSOR BATTERY IS CHANGED. SINCE THAT IS THE CASE, WE SUGGEST YOU "TAKE THE PLUNGE" AND CHANGE ALL WIRELESS SENSOR BATTERIES AT THE SAME TIME!!! :D
