Water in cadence sensor == Cad Fail

Post by bollella »

I got some water into the cadence sensor last time I washed my bike. Now I cannot get the sensor to work properly. I've tried a new battery, drying it with a hair dryer (on low), and repositioning. Nothing works.

Any solutions or do I need to purchase another sensor?

Thanks, Greg

Before you buy a new one - try a battery reset - put the battery in with the wrong polarity for a couple seconds - then take it out and put it in with the right polarity. It might reset the circuits - it will change the address - so you may have to rescan for it.

Tom,
Thanks for the suggestion. I went out and tried your suggestion but the sensor still seems dead.

Ever since my 13 year old sent his iPod through the wash, I've started saving the little desiccant bags that come in consumer electronics boxes. I read stories of others in my situation who have been able to recover Nanos by putting them in desiccant in a warm place for 24 hours, but alas, it didn't work for me. Instant rice is also acts as a desiccant--just don't confuse the rice and silica gel.
