how to mount on my new bike

Post by ScottChapman »

So, I have bit of a challenge.

My new bike has a pretty large stem, so I know I can't mount the iBike on it.

Also, the handlebars are "shaped" and not round...

So, any thoughts on how to get a good mount on the handlebars?

I assume I am not the first person to investigate this, just interested in what solutions folks came up with... Thanks!

You could try the rechargeable mount.

true, hadn't thought of that. Looks insanely ugly though.

Anyone got it that like it?

I got the mount as soon as it was available, fearful that it was big/ugly. I was right as it was both.
I made a mount at my shop and with Fernando's help, it works very well.
Biggest issue was making sure that vibrations were minimized.
If this works like I hope, here are some photos.

I have the rechargable mount - it is a bit bulkier, but does not really look bad - and the wind scaling is much more stable and close to a value of 1 - I found that just a little bit away from the center and it can vary - as well as the "angle of attack" (mounted on a Trek Madone as well as a S-Works Roubaix)

The fixed angle of this mount, the extra battery capacity, a little extra treatment to reduce the remining vibrations and the whole is much better than a regular handlebar or stem mount, in my opinion.

Now, that said - putting the iPhone on does make the whole think much more ominous and intimidating.
