Re: Cda Questions

Hey JulianBoulter, Another cause of higher CdA is yaw angle. If you have ideal no wind conditions and do the coast downs, this snapshot will still read higher if you have a headwind from off axis due to the larger 'picture' or area that is actually facing the wind vector directly. This is because yo...

Re: Cda Questions

I used some of the techniques that I mentioned in above post today after my ride. Because I had the issue in mind, I soft peddled in several places during my ride and tinkered with my CdA and Crr values after the fact. N_Loop_140301_z31.jpg It turned out that this steep downhill followed by uphill (...

Re: Cda Questions

Hi JulianBoulter, I will try to tackle your first question: "is there a way to work backwards then so that I can take the Cda figure I saw in the snapshot Cda of 0.45 and calculate what the Crr should be to give that Cda? " My analysis of your question brings up a subtle point that you may...

Re: Cda Questions

Hi JulianBoulter (and Kens!), I would only add to what Ken said if you did coastdowns vs the iBike height and weight setup approach. If you did coastdowns, then iBike attempts to measure both Cda and Crr with complex math that looks for the Cda part at higher speed and the Crr part at the lower spee...

lavoww, You might want to try a 'hard reset', see page 62 of this pdf file on how to do a hard reset: http://www.ibikesports.com/Download/iBike_Instructions_June_09_red.pdf Also I would try using a small plastic tube such as comes on some spray cans such as wd-40 etc (a clean new one is preferable) ...

Re: ibike dash handle bar mount for Newton+

JulianBoulter, You may want to also get the RWS (remote wind sensor) for when you have the bars attached. In that case, I would suggest using two profiles and having done the cal ride for each you would be good to go. The RWS samples the air from in front of your aero bars so that it is not affected...

Texmurphy, I agree with Velocomp but in the interest of trying to save spending money, I would first try moving the sensor further or close and possibly the magnet further from the hub if it is not fairly far away, for instance. You may find a sweet spot that works better, or not. If you can tolerat...

Isaac feature request

Happy New Year iBiker's ! I have thoughts of an improvement in Isaac. The problem I find is when I want to highlight a large section of the ride with an exact start and finish. Unless there is a way I am not aware of, it is a very tough task. What I am thinking of is, somewhat like the addition of l...

w01fy, I have had an Aero iBike for years, the Newton+ now but no DPFM :-( However, there are lot's of posts buried in this forum about that but my quick search did not pull up a gold mine. I did continuous cDa and DPFM cDa in the search box upper right, you may want to do that and expand from there...

In depth techi review, with great user feedback

Be sure to read the comments after this generally quite good but somewhat also critical review. Most of the critical comments are fair but are nicely balanced to the better by user comments.

Re: Adjusting Newton for other aero factors for race

blueraidermike, The most accurate way is to do cal ride with coastdowns with that equipment to develop a matching profile. A couple of short cut ways to get (how?) close would be: 1. Assuming you are using same tires and pressures for should be same Crr, do a few runs down a hill and analyze the Cda...

Re: CAL WIND

JoseJ,
The cal wind is in the setup menu. It is normally only necessary just prior to your cal ride, with the Newton series. If the temperature changes a lot, maybe another cal wind.

Search the forum for cal wind, lots of old discussions about it.

Since you say your mount has been loose since originally mounting it, probably best to do another cal ride.

My question (I have a Garmin etrix) is what extra function/feature/information do I get without the app but with the Garmin, if I purchase the key? Sell me on this and I will spend the money : -)
