Re: Ibike dash
Russ, I've done some beta testing with the iDash software on my iTouch.... The GPS function wouldn't be enabled in an iTouch but everything else should work. FWIW, even on my iTouch I can use Google Maps. I don't have the accuracy of GPS but I do get a good idea of where I am based on the multitude...

Re: Some key features of the iBike Dash
I think John mentioned somewhere else that you can purchase optional iBike gloves for this purpose.

Re: Interval Training 2x20, User Mode
I use, http://bikecalculator.com/veloUS.html as it gives results that I can rely on and allows factoring in the wind. I've lost quite a bit of weight over the last few years and this calculator has allowed me to tweak my profile to be more aero as I trim down. I'll look at your ride when I get home...

Re: Some key features of the iBike Dash
As an idea for future development, you may wish to consider incorporating a GPS chip within the phone booth in addition to the current version for further product segmentation. This will then enable GPS tracking for ipod Touch users (assuming that Apple keep excluding this feature from future releas...

Re: No iPhone no Future?
There is already a minor size difference between the iPhone and the iTouch, correct? Yes, the ipod Touch 3G is slimmer than the iphone 3GS but the new iphone 4G (out yesterday or so) is reputedly 25% slimmer than the previous model so the difference will be less now. Of course, who knows what the i...

Re: No iPhone no Future?
Even if the app can be ported over to Android there is still the hardware issue. The iDash mount is made specifically for iphones (and the slimmer ipod touch - presumably there are inserts to pad out the thickness?) Hence, any Android platform products would new new mounts but there are so many diff...

Re: Ibike dash
Dang. I wonder when the Android version will come out... +1, problem will be which device to support for the mount\pod, as there a so many new Android phones coming onto the market. Agreed. Now if they come out with something similar that allows you to combine a Garmin Edge 705 and iBike together o...

Re: Ibike dash
There's even a trade in option for iBike owners.
Presumably GPS and maps functionality is only limited to iPhones as iPod Touch doesn't have GPS?
Or is it like the Tom Tom car mount with a built in GPS chip enabling iPod Touch use?

Re: Calories? Can this be right?
I have a Sigma Rox that also estimates calories based on average heart rate and weight of rider etc. I have noticed on the initial rides using both systems that Sigma slightly over estimates calories compared to iBike. I'd tend to rely on the iBike as it's a more direct measure of power rather than ...

Re: Ibike dash
Looks awesome!
Although a bit pricey compared to iBike but if you have the iphone - you get GPS and a tracklog with the appropriate software I guess.
Weight weenies may prefer a lighter iBike than an iphone or ipod touch though for similar features.

Re: Interval Training 2x20, User Mode
I'll get a slight tweaking once I download the data because of tilt correction but I choose to have none of the automatic adjustments and I specify my starting and ending elevations. I do the same too most of the time. Racerfern, do you know why the tilt drifts downwards over the course of a ride j...

Re: Random NO readin of watts....
What happens when you download your ride and perform the "Analyze Ride" function? Do you see an increase in avg wattage? I have noticed this myself and found that somehow during the ride when checking the post processing file that the tilt drifted down from zero to something like minus 20m...

Re: Wind Calibration Question
Hi Avanti I've been having similar issues to you to lately as we get into colder weather. Everyday last week I've been riding in somewhere between 0 - 5 deg C in the mornings. I've left the unit outside for about 20mins to acclimatise, put it on my bike and do a wind offset. While riding I've notice...

Re: Wind Calibration Question
I realise it's not perfect but theoretically if ambient conditions are identical at start and end points, will this have the same effect as leaving the iBike outside to acclimatise for 10 mins before doing the wind offset prior to the ride? This should work OK, however it will become an issue if yo...

Re: Auto shut-off not
You can manually shut it off by going into Setup, then navigate to BATT which will display your voltage.
Hit the centre button and it should shut down.

Re: Wind Calibration Question
What you're doing each time before the ride is setting the wind offset which is just like setting the tare weight on a scale; zeroing it out. Wind offset is affected by weather conditions such as temperature and barometric pressure. ... Depending on where you live, the temperature change from insid...

Re: Automatically Analyze Route
Yes, I too find changes in power after going into this option and making tweaks. I guess this is to further fine tune the readings if we know more about the conditions of the ride. For example one a regular ride - if I know the exact start and end elevation points but on the downloaded ride - it's i...

Re: Wind Calibration Question
How long should the unit be placed outside to acclimatise? 1 minute, 5 minutes or 10 minutes? What is the point of acclimatising? Secondly, could someone please explain the point of doing a wind calibration each time? To the best of my knowledge, here are the answers to your questions: 1. 5 minutes...

Re: Wind Calibration Question
Thanks racerfern and dtrousdale for the clarification. I did not realise that temperature itself affects the wind offset. I thought the unit just measures wind speed and using the analogy of a simple thermometer measuring temperature, one wouldn't need to offset/calibrate a thermometer everytime bef...

Wind Calibration Question
Hi, I'm a new ibike user with the latest firmware. Apologies if this has been asked before but I have searched here and read the manuals a few times but have not been able to find the answer. It is recommended that before going out on a ride, to do a wind calibration and also to acclimatise the unit...
