Re: unable to download rides post software and firmware updates

The spdfail message is normal with the Newton. I know it seems like the unit is confused about where it is, but just because you see the spdfail message on the screen shouldn't cause computer communication problems. Be sure you have tried all the typical troubleshooting steps. (E.g., plug directly i...

Re: Possible bug in software

Any ideas or do I have a defective unit, bad firmware flash? No, I am seeing the same phenomenon as you so it's not a defective unit. There is not a quick and easy way to debug it. The FW developer and I will have to get our heads together and try to find where the disagreement is coming in. If I h...

Hi bjrmd,

Thanks for posting your files. I took a quick look and I don't have an answer for the disconnect yet. I will be traveling this weekend and won't have a chance to look at it until I get back, but I wanted to let you know I'll try to figure out what is happening.

Re: Evidence of connecting the Newton to a Mac?

The Newton is not designed to act as a storage device to the host computer, so it does not mount and create a storage icon. To check that it is connected & charging, you can use the SW to download a ride or get the serial number. If the unit is connected to the computer, it is charging. You can ...

Re: Wind Calibration

My issue is that in Analyze Route, if I check that ride started and ended in the same place, ISAAC changes the average wind to 0.0 and my average watts increases by 11 watts. So my question is whether or not to indicate the ride started and finished in the same place? I know 11 watts is not a big d...

I have looked into this bug and can repeat the problem. Unfortunately, this is a bug related to the development system and is not something that I can fix easily, nor are there any workarounds that would not be massive undertakings. I have reported the bug to the makers of the development system and...

Re: Check Calibration...how often

I'm sorry, I was not clear. I am using the Check Calibration feature under the tools menu. The result is only a slight change, and therefore I won't mess with it. Good, that's exactly the way to use the feature. You can expect small changes from ride to ride just due to the fact that the weather co...

Re: connect iBike to computer and all ride info is erased

Did you get an answer to your question? After a period of a few hours, the ride file is automatically reset in the unit. This is to prevent people from accidentally continuing rides that were completed previously. As you found, the way to see your ride stats, including TSS, IF, and NP, is to downloa...

I'm putting my money on the magnet alignment OR the arm that picks up the speed signal. Inside that arm are two tiny wires that transmit to the body of the GSC. Those may have been compromised. In addition, make sure there is not a 2nd magnet on the wheel that is close enough to trip the speed sens...

Re: Check calibration keeps telling me to do another tilt cal

Try sending me a couple of ride files and I'll look into it. (tpape at velocomp):
1. The last ride file that you used in the check cal that prompted you for a tilt cal.
2. Go out to your bike, do a tilt cal, ride just long enough to create ride file, and send me that.

Re: Tilt plot- getting strange slope in ride

Hi GWPOS, Looking at these rides, it looks like on-the-road slope_offset algorithm is getting a stiff workout when you descend. Remember that the slope_offset algorithm has a 5 minute reponse time, and since the descents are only about 7 minutes long, they are almost over before the algorithm has a ...

If everything is working with communications other than getting the ride list and downloading ride files, it might be that the ride memory in the unit is corrupted. Ok, the bug is squashed for the next release. Also, it won't bother you about adding cadence data when the original data does not contain cadence data.
