Re: Differing power numbers when uploaded to Garmin Connect
I stick with the other numbers and just upload to Connect because ..... :?: :o  For the same reason I upload to Strava. There's the social aspect and the real numbers aspect. One to share one to sit down and know your fitness and form. Strava attempts to bridge from fun to fitness but really f...

Re: Differing power numbers when uploaded to Garmin Connect
I don't use Garmin Connect, but I do use SportTracks, Golden Cheetah and WKO+. They all show 433,337 and 330 respectively. Assuming you are exporting a csv file and uploading that to Garmin Connect then GC is not reading the file properly.

Not knowing the elevation and assuming it started and ended in the same place I put in the the SAME starting and ending numbers. But of course you knowing the elevation you have to use those.

Re: Ibike watts show higher on bike
All those checkboxes and options are there to help analyze a ride that had a problem with recording the correct wattage. They're awesome when used as needed but can make things confusing. If you click ride ended where it started then click starting and ending elevation then go back to ride ended whe...

Re: Ibike watts show higher on bike
For the ride you posted, obviously a group ride were you tucked in the pack for the first third and the last third? It appears so, I just want to confirm your profile is good.
Never mind, it seems you've been using this for quite awhile so I'm sure you've got it dialed in.

Re: Ibike watts show higher on bike
Correct, I always answer NO to the drafting question. There are combinations of check boxes and radio buttons that change things significantly and others that only make a minor change based on elevation differences. So... I opened your ride and clicked return to original download. Clicking Ride ende...

Re: Ibike watts show higher on bike
Robert, Click Analyze > Analyze Route , I answer NO if presented with the question Did the rider draft? Even if I did, the Newton shows this with a significant tailwind. For example, here's today's ride with a very significant tailwind going up the canyon (the third lap). Isaac asks if I drafted but...

Re: Ibike watts show higher on bike
Robert, Unchecking the boxes (I have all of them unchecked) will not affect the choices presented to you when you select "Analyze Route". AFA "Analyze Route" I deselect all boxes (unless I have something go very wrong) and I don't use the "Ride Ended Where it started" e...

John, Ooh, ooh, ooh, I know the answer, teacher! There's always an amourous obsession with the new and untried. People still clamor for the Vector even though Garmin has owned it long enough to totally ruin it. Every new power meter out there is the latest and greatest and they all show promise. Tha...

Re: Slope question
@Zoltan: My point is...whatever. The point is that between pulling on the bars, leaning the bike side to side and the effect of turning the fork as you fight your way up a 16+% incline can throw off the iBike calculations and store a higher value. The point is that it is only for a second and has no...

Re: Slope question
Magnets have nothing to do with it. The one moment that some max slope got recorded does not affect the average watts for that lap. If you zoom in on a lap, say #5 then select the max section, you're talking about a two second window over the time you spent on that lap. Newton happened to record the...

Re: Start/Stop Button
You cannot stop recording other than somehow remove the speed magnet. I suggest you hit the lap marker (hold the left button for a few seconds) to mark the area of interest. All that said, if you're riding you're you're accumulating TSS so regardless of how you wind your way home it still adds to th...

. I will ride 2014 with IF of 0.70 to 0.72 to have enough power for a solid run Hmm, you might want to research this as I think this is too low however I'm also not a triathlon expert. Re: Race with a disc
Looking at the 179km ride I don't see where you could have done much better although your form deteriorated quite a bit toward the end (as would anyone's after a ride this long). You obviously cannot plan to maintain high IF not even 90% of it since you're out there for almost six hours. At an inten...

Re: iPro Gen III will not display speed or power
Although prior generations are no longer supported, I will try to help you to at least get you going. With everything connected, simply "hold" the bike in the air with the front wheel way above the rear wheel while turning the crank at over 40 rpm. This isn't all so easy so maybe someone c...

Re: Calibration
I would be inclined to use the second one where there was less braking on downhills but it's important to note the two profiles are nearly identical.
Pick one and do your fitness test with it as that's the key to setting goals and tracking progress.

Re: Calibration
I just downloaded your 111km ride from a previous post. First I returned to the original download, then analyzed the ride. The difference is one watt. If I were you I would not worry about doing a tilt cal after a ride. In fact, by doing a tilt cal you're making the Newton start learning over again....

Re: Power2Max recorded simultaneously on the Newton
The Newton+ should accept the Power2Max data as long as it is ANT+. And it sounds like it is because the Garmin 500 picks up the power2max. So... wake up the P2M and get your CAD/SPD and HR sensors awake also. Simply press the up and down arrows at the same time and the Newton+ should find the p2m i...

Nice effort! You probably have to raise your FTP slightly as you have an IF of 1.02 for this one hour effort.

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?
Golden Cheetah is awesome. However the only two programs I've seen that highlight the actual area is WKO+ and the Training Analysis plugin with SportTracks. The others have some sort of CP curve that show your max power for whatever amount of time but not where it occurred during a ride. I thought i...

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?
In Isaac you would have to highlight the section you think has the best effort which obviously is not easy. I use SportTracks along with a plugin called Training Analysis. You can also use WKO+Is there an automatic way in Isaac to detect best 1 hour, 30 min, 20 min etc etc average ?

Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?
Great effort whether you're the one in the wind or tucked in. Your best 60 minute average is from 19m to 1h 19m with an average of 195watts. Note that your NP was 236 for this one hour so there was a fair amount of variability. However your best 20 minutes were at the very end of the event with a 24...

1. Correct 2. Correct, keep in mind losing 10lbs (4.5kg) is a good reason to do a cal ride. 3. Almost correct, calibrate just prior to your cal ride and don't bother calibrating again unless there is a BIG change in temperature. I would say a 10°F(5°C) difference between the current temperature and ...

Re: Crazy high power on descents
I'm not saying there is anything with your wind scaling. Being on the bar its normal to have higher than 1.5 wind scaling. All I said was 2.2 was getting up there. That said, your wind scaling looks good so I wouldn't worry about it. Sorry if I caused you concern. However, I saw on another post that...
