Re: Garmin Vector Next Spring?
I was going to ask the same thing. Also, I was wondering if it would be possible to calculate changing crr if you have DFPM. I have several MTB routes with sections that can change from hard as tarmac one day to energy sapping mud another. As I don't go very fast on my MTB and much of the route is ...

Re: Intermittent Speed and Power reading issues
I sometimes get "messed up" Heartrate recordings up to 200+ bpm usually when going downhill. It's really annoying. By the way, that is a common problem especially on cooler, less humid days. Your jersey is flapping in the wind and building up just enough static electricity to interfere wi...

Re: Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers
I've never ridden rollers, but I did watch this video once: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wME5NTriTcocure wrote:Is it safe to ride out of the saddle if it’s a fixed roller, like it doesn’t move back and forth.

travis, thanks for the reply, i will try this out! i got the rollers and there are 3 rolls. on front for front wheel to sit on. and 2 in the back for rear wheel. there is a black rubber band that wraps around front and middle rolls, like a pulley action. will i have issues if its like that? Nope, t...

HI velobob, There's a newer version of the SiLabs USB driver that you might not have. Try this and see if it helps: http://www.ibikesports.com/iBike_update/SiLabsUSBDriverDisk_2_9.dmg.zip Otherwise, it might be worth trying to manually uninstall the NI Visa Runtime driver and reinstall from scratch....

Re: what actually is FRIC, help with profile please
Fernando, Great stuff. Thanks for jumping in. Geoff, it would really help if you can post that *.ibcd4m file that Fernando described. If you already deleted the data from the iBike, you can still find the file in a folder called "calibration rides" in your ride files folder. (It automatica...

Re: Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers
Hi cure, I've searched again, but still can't find any power curve data for these rollers. If Nashbar ever releases the data, we will be happy to include it our software. But not all is lost. Fortunately, the resistance of the rollers is linear, unless the rollers have a pulley to drive a fan or fly...

Re: Wind Calibration
has anybody experienced this? is this because of the change in air density due to the change in temperature? ex. from 26degC to 30deg C It is due to the effect temperature has on the sensor & amplifier rather than its effect on air density. We are getting everything we can out of the wind senso...

Re: A curiosity question on wind offset
As long as the route analysis adjusts the wind, then the answer is yes. I.e., there is an O&B, or laps, or the ride ends were it begins, and there is no drafting.cjonbike wrote:Just out of curiosity!

Re: iBike 5.1.2 update - Problem with Ride Display
I found the bug causing this problem. I'll get a new version out in the next day or two to fix it. Fortunately it is just a display issue for the graph and the underlying data is fine. Until I get the new build released, you can set the bottom axis to "time" rather than "distance"...

Re: Profile advice
We've found that 0.0055 is good for a typical blend or roads. Chip seal would be worse. And if you've got a silky tarmac to ride on, it would be lower. Remember you always have the option of measuring the Crr by doing a set of coast-downs together with a calibration ride. After you do them, connect ...

Re: Profile advice
The fric number factors in the riding tilt also, so they are fine. The number to look at is Crr. You have the same rolling resistance of 0.055 for both bikes, which is probably good. Don't try to compare fric numbers.

I did find a bug that would cause the dialog asking for DFPM unnecessarily. It will be in the next build. Also, I've changed the dialog so that you can tell it you don't have a DFPM.

Subtract 1.06 from whatever you have for B
If you happen to be using the trackstand option, subtract 0.67 instead.

The manufacture data for the Kreitler rollers is good, but they didn't include the effect of rider weight. If your weight is significantly higher than the person Kreitler used to make there table, then you will have more rolling resistance and vice versa. Tire make & model can also make a small ...

Sorry that it wasn't clear, but the focus of this Wizard is to make things easy for first-time customers. Did you go over bridges? Look to see if the mapping sites are following the profile of the bridges or whatever is underneath them. Sometimes if the GPS accuracy is low as you go over the bridge, the web sites that are based on elevation surveys think that you rode down to the bottom of the ravine/re...

Re: Calibration File Download - File Selection (Step 1) is Grey
If there are more than 1 cal rides stored in the unit, then they should both be available in the 4 Mile Ride list, which is the old name for a Calibration Ride. (I've changed the name to Calibration Ride for the next build of the iBike SW to avoid confusion.) So if your second ride is not available ...

As Nik mentioned, the rollers that we support are the models where the manufacturer has supplied formulas for calculating the resistance curve, which we don't have from Nashbar.

Re: Gear Ratio
Gear ratio is simply (# of ring teeth)/(# of cassette teeth). For example, my highest gear is 53/12 = 4.42 and my lowest gear is 39/25 = 1.56. It is calculated based on the speed and cadence data and it is simply a measure of how many revolutions of the wheel you get for each revolution of the crank.

I have a new build of the iBike SW available, but I have made a big change to the Mac installer and need some folks to test it out to make sure there aren't any unforseen issues. I've changed it from being a PKG type installation to the easier method of "drag into the Applications folder" ...
