In terms of covering the handlebar/stem mount during a down pour, I use a 2 litre milk bottle top which sits perfectly on the mount without any fastening.

You might also find some interesting information on NP, IF and TSS relevant to your training in the article linked below by Hunter Allen. Alternatively, the Book Training and Racing with a Power Meter is a very good investment, whether you race or not. The book is available in the ibikestore. Nik ht...

Re: ibike-lower temperatures-transmission to Edge 705
Just a quick update.
Undertaking intervals in the latter part of the day when the temperature was warmer seemed to have little or no improvement on reducing the Edge 705's power data dropouts. As per usual there were power drops of at least 4-5 seconds per minute, sometimes more.

Re: ibike-lower temperatures-transmission to Edge 705
Hi Fernando. I have previously positioned the Edge 705 on the top tube, but this did not yield any better results. It is interesting that you have had somewhat better power readings with the external battery though. I think I might try an afternoon interval session (as the weather is quite a bit war...

ibike-lower temperatures-transmission to Edge 705
I was wondering if anyone has any idea whether operating the ibike Gen III at lower temperatures is affecting the strength of the signal received by the Garmin Edge 705, and thereby giving some effect to the Edge 705's power drop outs? If this is the case would the forthcoming new mount for the Gen ...

Re: Discounts for iDash+Power, for current iBike owners
On a slight tangent, my new train of thought is to now remove the Garmin Edge 705 from my bike completely, and to continue measuring power with the ibike alone. A drop in power of a couple of watts due to the cold weather with the ibike I can live with, but this drop in addition to Garmin's notoriou...

Re: No iPhone no Future?
Yeah, I've actually been looking into this myself. I've seen several iphone 3G bundled packages on ebay for around Au$200-300, and that's before the release of version 4. I'm currently having a few issues with the accuracy of power readings (lots of drop outs) at the moment due to the cold winter mo...

I'm not sure if you guys are aware of this web site, but Hunter Allen and Dr Andrew Coggan have recently started a Training and Racing with a Power Meter Journal website/blog [1]. Perhaps the lack of response by John and Velocomp is because you have not provided the full details in order for them to make a decision as to whether the issues you have are covered by the warranty. Important information would include how long you have had the ibike; who you purchased the ibike fro...

I guess it is a matter of personal choice whether to run both, and therefore not really a reflection on the quality of the ibike's features. I'd be interested to here other people's reasons for running both. For me, lighting and GPS are important. Being an info junkie and enjoying my cockpit of data...

Re: Garmin GSC-10 v. iBike Sensors
I think for some reason I assumed the original poster was speaking of the ibike GT firmware update for the Edge 705, possibly because the issue of the Edge 305's Ant+ incompatibility has been discussed before on the forum- my mistake.

Re: Garmin GSC-10 v. iBike Sensors
The ibike speed and cadence sensors have the capability to communicate with other Ant+ Sport devices [1]. Garmin is/owns Ant+ Sport. Whether you should purchase Garmin or ibike is a matter of choice-they are both equal. I purchased an additional GSC-10 for my track bike solely on the basis that the ...

I don't own a Powertap, but what I have read on the Wattage forum, is that you should not rely on auto zeroing, rather a manual calibration should be done prior to each ride to ensure accuracy.

Re: Fun Meter is pegged
I think you will find that most power meter users are info junkies. Moreover, you will find that most users will then further their quest for information through the use of multiple analysis products: ibike, WKO, Golden Cheetah, RaceDay and sportstrack for different perspectives. Perhaps then, if yo...

Re: iSport on a Mt. Bike
The ibike, as with all other good power meters does not calculate kilo-calories based on heart rate. Heart rate is too variable. This variability may have resulted from a lack of sleep, poor nutrition and diet or fatigue from the previous days workout-amongst others-rather than an indicator of the s...

Once you have downloaded your ibike csv ride file, in GC go to ride>import from file, and then navigate to the folder where you store your ibike ride data. Mine is saved in My documents. Once you have located the CSV file, press open>save>finish. Your ibike file will then be loaded in GC. I don't mi...

Are using the correct firmware instructions?. If, by the ibike website you mean the ibike store then the instructions you downloaded were from firmware 310+ in May 2009. If your ibike is not almost a year old then it is likely you need to download the correct firmware instructions from the ibike for...

Re: iSport on a Mt. Bike
The ibike is determining the kilo-calories of energy you expended to produce the power you are putting to the pedals. One watt of mechanical power is equivalent to 4.3 kilo-calories-I'm sure there is a wiki somewhere on this. This (ibike's) calculation for calories burned is more accurate than one b...

Most of the questions you have been asking have been answered previously on this forum. Perhaps using a little foot work with the advanced search feature can resolve some of the issues you have. In this case take a look at the post 'ibike 4.03 released'

I don't think the maximum power you achieved for short durations-1 and 5 bursts is really a number for you to worry about unless you plan on racing. These short term bursts of power are necessary where for example when you are: a track racer, joining a break away group off the front of the peleton, ...

Re: iBike and Garmin 705 differences
In hindsight, the recording rate is not the issue, though useful to have both the units synchronised. The main issue is that you do not have zero averaging switched to on under settings>Data recording (on the Edge). As soon as you stop pedalling, at say 300 watts because of a downhill section, the E...
