Trainer profile for Minoura Magteqs?

Hi - I'm looking at getting a higher resistance trainer - Minoura Magteqs. It's not in the trainer list at the moment but they do publish this data: http://www.minourausa.com/_userdata/twin_performance-data.pdf Is that enough on which to create a trainer profile? Can I do it myself or can Velocomp d...

Bump. Can anyone help to tweak my profile / advise what to do to get better power readings? @gerrard I'm certainly no expert on profiles and I'm trying learn as much as I can from the gurus. @gerrard I'm certainly no expert on profiles and I'm trying learn as much as I can from the gurus. Re: Struggling with ibike for TTing

I'd be happy to idiot test it if you need someone in the field ;) Interestingly I went and did a VO2max test yesterday which pegged my FTP at 306watts. My testing on the trainer comes out at 302, and on the road 269. That suggests the trainer is reasonably accurate so I'm now wondering how I go abou...

Re: Struggling with ibike for TTing

I've got to say I am constantly amazed at all these small cleaver things you can do with the ibike. If you're prepared to spend the time and understand all the ins and outs of it then you can get a lot out of it that's for sure.

Re: Struggling with ibike for TTing

Hi Jim - thanks for the quick reply. Yep I've got a RWS. Good point about not assuming the training is totally accurate too. The ibike's given me a great start but I guess my decision now is whether to spend the bigger $$ for a different one (hmmm, new bike or power meter...). In the mean time I'll ...

Struggling with ibike for TTing

Have been using the ibike for several months now and it's give me a lot of insights into my riding and training. However I'm still struggling with getting the best out of it in TT position. I custom mounted very similar to this http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1350, did a new cal r...

A few of my latest questions....

Q1: I've installed the RWS and aerobars on my bike, updated my profile, done a new cal ride and that all seems to be good. However I notice now whenever I sit up onto the hoods that wattage drops massively. Go down into aero and it displays about the right number, sit up and drops to about 1/3 of t...

Re: Big difference when route analysed

Well I just did new cal ride in absolutely perfect conditions today and it only had very minor impact on wind scaling in my profile (changed it from 0.887 to 0.880) The good thing about the ride was given dead calm conditions (and I mean not a breath) I can finally see how wind works / affects power...

Re: Big difference when route analysed

From your comment "Absolutely, you're always better off running it through the software first. You have to use the software to download it anyways so just save what you downloaded and your done. This would be the minimum." in this thread http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19...

Big difference when route analysed

Went on a solo 3.5h ride today - aiming for fairly steady intensity. Route had one very long climb but at a minor gradient. I was tired and it felt hard to produce watts when watching the ibike. I came home, downloaded the ride, analysed route, and got what I think is a substantially different resul...

Re: Remote Wind Sensor Instructions

These instructions say you must do coast downs then a cal ride. Is this still relevant / necessary / appropriate? Reading other (more current) forum posts suggest that coast downs are not so necessary. For what reasons should I do or not do them?

Thanks

Re: Which calibration ride is better?

rcmap - I'm in Wellington - where are you? The crr is just what ibike gives me. It seemed low but I didn't know what was normal for our roads here. I'm running cheap wheels and tires so think it should be higher. I was wondering that's why my fric value went up between the two rides? I can't manuall...

Which calibration ride is better?

I was getting some weird wattages when I was out riding today - things like: - 200 watts when I was going downhill with a tail wind (normally see 0-40) - 200-250 watts on the flat when my perceived effort was much less These readings never seemed to hang around for long, but overall I felt like the ...

Re: RWS Modification Question

Any reason for having the big bend in the tube rather than just running it up the inside of an aerobar and having it stick out the front a bit further?

Are the end pieces on RWS anything special or can I pick up something similar at a hardware store to use instead?

Re: Battery life??

Let me bump this one with my experience: Have been riding iAero in 15C - 20C for about 30 hours with the same battery. Every time I start the ride voltage is 2.89 - 2.9. By the time I finish the ride it is always down around 2.75 but no aparent problems while riding. Swapped the batteries (mount and...

Re: Choosing an indoor trainer

Well just my luck that a few days after this discussion the rarely spotted (here in NZ anyway) Road Machine was on sale through a local online retailer so I snapped it up. Got to love the quiet and smoothness of it after a cheap mag trainer! However two problems: #1) Never considered this one before...

Choosing an indoor trainer

I'm now on the hunt for a trainer to use with ibike. 3 that look like options for me are: Elite Crono CycleOps Fluid2 (has 4 profile in ibike) CycleOps Magneto (has 2 profile in ibike) The ones with multiple profile in ibike are all quite different profiles. Is this to cater for different models of ...

Re: The Why's and How's of Wind Offset

I've read this thread a few times over but still don't quite understand it. Is doing wind offsets (Cal Wind option in setup?) the same as Auto Wind that happens when I first turn on the ibike? I live in a windy city (Wellington NZ). It's nearly always windy, and very rarely calm. I try to find a cal...

Re: ibike aero not displying slope in WKO+

Good tip - thanks guys. Wasn't aware of that. Do you always just accept the adjustments, or are there reasons not to? (I don't understand the details of what's be changed and why... yet). Also, there is the analyse wind feature. Do you do that too, or look for something particular in it? I'm digesti...
