Profile Check

I would appreciate a profile check from the gurus. I did a Cal Ride and Coast Downs today with Est Fric but keep getting a very low Crr (0.0015), got something similar a few days ago when I did CDs (0.0017). Conditions on both days were great, very calm. Power readings seem high when I'm riding. Coa...

Make sure it's not picking up the cadence magnet.

Re: Case Cracked

I received my iBike with a nice new case, thanks Velocomp! My original profile still seems to be giving good numbers but I'll probably redo it after I've got bike 2 dialed in.

Re: Wireless Failure

Just wanted to update this thread. I tried my iBike again on bike 2 last night and it paired up fine. I think the problem may have been water, I drove to a race last weekend with the bike on the roof, and went through a horrendous storm. I'm wondering if that could have caused issues with the mount ...

Re: Wireless Failure

I put new batteries in the bike 2 mount and sensors still no wireless. I tried to cross pair from bike 2 to bike 1, and the other way with the iBike on bike 1, neither would work, it only pairs when on bike 1 set to Prof 1. If just the mount 2 was faulty I would have expected it to pair when on moun...

Wireless Failure

I just got my repaired unit back today, new case but now I'm getting WLS FAIL. I did a search of the forum and tried doing a hard reset on everything by reversing the batteries (unit, mount, sensors) but no luck. This is a new mount too, for bike 2. I tried the iBike on bike 1, worked fine. Is there...

Thanks John. I spoke to Aaron a couple of days ago and mailed it off overnight yesterday.

Nik, thanks for your response. I guess emailing support directly is the way to go for issues like this.

Case Cracked

I noticed my iPro had a hairline crack a while back, but last night I noticed it's suddenly got a lot worse. (I'm wondering if the crack has been there all along as the case had marks on it when I got it - definitely not new but that's another story.) I think this could also explain rain problems wh...

Ah, under Edit Profile, thanks. I've only ever accessed them through the Download and Analyze from the iBike.

Where do coast downs live?

Are CDs stored only in the iBike unit? Or are they appended to the Cal Ride file when you download for analysis and save the Cal Ride? Just wondering if I erase ride data in my unit am I losing the only instance of my CDs.

Thanks.

Re: Calibration Advice (issues with drafting numbers)

The Dynamic CdA dialog looks really interesting, but I think I'll get my static values dialed in before messing with that! The rate of updates and enhancements from Velocomp is impressive. I think more documentation is needed on some of these advanced features, and even the core ones. I'm hesitant t...

Re: Power Spikes

Yeah, I've tried that before in Open Office (don't have Excel on this laptop) and I could not re-open the file in iBike. Open Office must be doing something to the file. I'll give it another go with a plain text editor.

Re: Power Spikes

Thanks for the explanation John, makes sense. I'm glad I found the source of that phenomenon, now I know to do trip resets between coast checks so I can exclude those ride sections from my log. It would be nice if there was an edit feature whereby you could edit those rows to remove such spikes via ...

Power Spikes

I've been getting seemingly arbitrary 2000w spikes here and there. Today I got two more but now I'm thinking it's not random. I attempted to do a Cal Ride and CDs today and on the way home was on the coast screen checking out the coasting numbers, the spikes occurred on the downhills. I've heard of ...

Re: Water or Low Battery?

I don't know. That's a question for the engineers, if the Gen II and III have different sensitivity to the rain, maybe they changed something. I got caught in the rain again this afternoon, was riding solo, closed out the ride file with a trip reset just in case as I had some important test data in ...

Re: Water or Low Battery?

The wind port is the obvious candidate. I'm pretty sure that's where it got in to mine, the battery cover, battery and compartment looked totally dry. Though I guess it can't hurt to upgrade the battery compartment seal. I hate being iBikeless while it's in rehab drying out. There are solutions out ...

Re: Water or Low Battery?

I put in a new battery this evening, seemed better, alt and tilt were stable. I went out to do a Cal ride but got "bad tilt" every time. (I tried again when I got home in my kitchen where I normally do it, still no go.) So I could not do a cal ride. Something not right with the tilt sensor...

Re: Water or Low Battery?

Thanks for the info Morocco Mole. If this is an inherent problem with the iBike design, it is good to know the RWS can eliminate it (though I really don't want to go that route). Yes, I was riding with someone. I had to ride to the side of the guy in front for visibility, but no doubt the unit did c...

Re: Water or Low Battery?

Thanks for the re-Cal tip R Mc, I will do that. Are you suggesting this is to be expected and I should get used to it? That's surprising to me, to put it mildly. I'm sure the manual says the iBike should work fine in the rain (as one would expect of a bike computer). Since we get a lot of summer sho...

Water or Low Battery?

Tonight on my ride the heavens opened and we had an hour or so of rain. After 10 or 15 min of rain my watts went ridiculously high, often over 1000 when noodling, it displayed 3998w frequently, later on it stuck on 0w for a large part of the time, and sometimes I had a seemingly reasonable number bu...

Re: Calibration Procedure Check

Boyd, if I load this new profile into the iBike will I get exactly the same results as if I keep using my old profile and then apply this new profile to the ride file after the fact? I'm doing a comparison test of some equipment and I'm nearly done with equipment A, going on to B, so I want the resu...

Re: baffled and amazed

I was just pointing out the most relevant sensor as chrisf was only considering wind speed. Presumably, as racerfern says, all data would be factored in, but under normal conditions the acceleration would be the most relevant factor from a standing start, as the change in velocity is the greatest, y...

Re: Calibration Procedure Check

Thanks Boyd, much appreciated! I will give this a try. Down the road I think I will do a few method 2 + 3 calibrations and see how establishing CdA and Crr separately works out, for now though, I just want to ride, so this is very helpful. Thanks again.

Re: baffled and amazed

It has an accelerometer so it can measure the acceleration of your mass from a standing start. The accelerometer also measures slope so on the descent it factors in the downhill "help" you're getting.
