Hi,
I went to ibikesports.com to see what it would mention what I would need to use my ibike as a head unit for a powertap hub, that I have yet to purchase. No luck! Will a wired mount work, or will I have to buy a wireless mount? Will I have to upgrade the firmware? Anything else? Thanks!

WKO upgrade discount for current owners
I have an Ibike and cycling peaks wko+. I noticed there is a discount for WKO+ at ibikesports.com. Question: Is there a discount on top of the discount , to upgrade from an older version of WKO+? To clarify, training peaks offers a lower price to upgrade from an older version, so I am wondering if I...

Re: How do I check if my profile is correct?
I, really, would like someone to check if my windscaling, or something else, is off. I was hoping coach Boyd would reply, but if someone else knows what they are doing, please, have at it! My ride profile is attached above. Thanks.

Re: upgrading from 3.08 to newest firmware?
I believe the problem in the past, w/upgrading firmware, was that the wind offset, would have the problem of being more irradic in a calm room. So will I have a problem upgrading from firmware version 3.08 to the 4.20 or higher?

Re: How do I check if my profile is correct?
Sorry, if the above question is considered by someone to be dumb. I live in Flagstaff Arizona and the wind is blowing almost all the time. I work late so I do not get up early, when the wind is calmist. Therefore, doing coast downs are very hard to do right. Furthermore, I looked at Ibike 4 for wind...

How do I check if my profile is correct?
I haven't used my Ibike in a while, and I never figured how to correct my profile, maybe that function is/was not available. Coach Boyd sent me a corrected profile over a year ago that he tweaked from a workout I posted on here. Doesn't Ibike 4.04 have this function? If so, where can I find instruct...

upgrading from 3.08 to newest firmware?
I haven't updated my Ibike Gen 3 for a while, since I've been using the trainer mode and a Polar cs600 w/ power. I want to get it updated w/ the mot up to date firmware and Ibike 4 software. Will there be a problem going from firmware, immediately to, 4.18 or the most current update? I believe, in t...

Re: computrainer compatibility??
What if we set the computrainer to a course w/ a 1% grade like the Kurt Kinetic road machine, could we then use the power curve of the Kurt Kinetic road machine, that is in the list of trainer profiles in Ibike 3? Note: Exporting computrainer files to cyclingpeaks is a big file to save, unless I mis...

Re: Norm Power calculator anywhere?
Thanks. Tough equation though. I'll have to get used to it over and over if I want to develope a whole set of workout's, which I thought I might do. Too bad I'd have to use Microsoft Excel for the equation, ALSO, becuase I don't know how to use it nor do I have the software (free trial, only, I have...

Norm Power calculator anywhere?
I am wondering if there is a website or tool I can calculate Norm power for various wko's? For instance say I want to do a ride of 1.5 hours, but I want to average 230 watts Norm power, and I want to do intervals, not just a steady ride at 230 watts. Within that I ride, if I want to work on muscular...

Re: getting trainer wheel up to speed...trainer feature
I concur. Maybe I am a watt freak or a bit picky, but not really. Rhetorically/sarcastically speaking! Sprinting is just one of my weaknesses, and I wanted a general (but a LITTLE more specific) estimate of my power to work with. I guess when I'm fresh I can just do short maximal repeats and I'll im...

Re: getting trainer wheel up to speed...trainer feature
Thanks for that insight! I did not consider wheel weight, but you're right about all the little factors, that would have go into 100% accuracy. Rolling resistance ofthe tire used, tube type, bladed or non bladed spokes, are a few more details that would have be accounted for. I was thinking in gener...

Re: Sweat causing unit to blank out
Update! As it turns out I have a visible crack near the lens. I must not have seen it from the distances I usually look at it. It may be a dumb question, but I want to save minutes on my cell phone: Does the warranty cover this kind of thing...cracked outside of unit? I don't know how it could have ...

Re: Sweat causing unit to blank out
Also I don't have a wireless mount. The screen looks like a screen on a watch that isn't waterproof, then gets put in water. I think the sweat evaporates after awhile then it returns to normal. Other possibilities may include: sweat getting in the little hole at the bottom, I guess it's the air pres...

Re: Sweat causing unit to blank out
My unit isn't broken, cracked, or anything, but I still had the problem. I may just call velocomp, if it's something else? If someone else has this issue it would be great to read from you. In the meantime I cover it w/ a towel since I am using it on a trainer, and I view my watts from my UNCOVERED ...

Is the gasket in the battery compartment or between the black (or white) top half and the grey bottom half of the unit? I have this problem too of screen blanking out, one time it didn't, even, save the ride file.

Re: getting trainer wheel up to speed...trainer feature
so can we see a logirhythm(or some formula) in the future for an Ibike firmware that calculates instantaneous watts? Instantaneous watts that are indicative of rate of accelration to get up to speed? Just curious. Perhaps it is too complicated, but it seems doable w/ a DFPM! I don't have a DFPM to u...

getting trainer wheel up to speed...trainer feature
Doesn't it take more watts then 300 to get the wheel up to 300 watts on the trainer? It would be a good feature if those numbers could be figured out by the Ibike. For instance, I'm sure getting the wheel to spin fast enough, to read 300 watts, in 5 seconds would require a spike in watts greater the...

Re: Not self correcting, maybe tilt too far off?
Good job Coachboyd! The ride looks good in Ibike 3, but I'll do another set of CD's and 4 mile ride when the winds get calm and/or I ride at Wupatki National Monument. Wupatki has very little traffic a fairly flat/straight section, quite long, and even a bowl or 2 for CD's. The winds are possibly ev...

Re: Not self correcting, maybe tilt too far off?
Ok thanks coachboyd, I'll try out the tweeks and new profile. My guess is that by twisting the unit counter clockwise (to make the Ibike point straight) w/out doing another 4 mile cal ride, must've made the wind seem stronger to the Ibike. In other words, the wind is going in the wind port more dire...

Re: Not self correcting, maybe tilt too far off?
Just a few more things: I double checked the trainer mode, it was off; my riding tilt(-.3%), wind scaling(1.409), cda(.401), crr(.0094 winter clothing), weight (I could lose 10 more, lol!), wheel circ(2094 for700 23c), and cm(1.02) were all in the suggested ranges that have been mentioned in another...

Re: Not self correcting, maybe tilt too far off?
I did the tilt cal, I used the same profile from when my Ibike worked, I even experimented w/ the est cda feature, I let the Ibike acclimate outside for a while, I did the wind offset to zero after that, but something is wrong still? The speed matched up well w/ my polar cs600, the cadence was somew...

Not self correcting, maybe tilt too far off?
Hi e'ry one, I upgraded to Gen 3 a month or 2 ago, accept that I had to get a new mount. The first few rides with the Gen 3 were ok, but since the mount was slightly turned a bit, too much clockwise, I turned it back counter clockwise. I decided not to worry about doing tilt calibrations, pressuming...

Re: Weird Heart Rate Data (a.k.a Is There A Doctor In The House?
I like how you used the word 'WEIRD', instead of 'CRAZY'! Some people act, speak, or do as if everything extreme or inefficient (Example: your dips in HR), as long as the word crazy is used, that all mentally ill people (I.E. those w/ schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc.) must do those things that ...

My Ibike is mounted under the handlebars, on the right of the bar extender (type) mounting apperatis. Has anybody had problems, w/wind speed calculation, power data, etc, with this kind of setup. Further details include: The extender is attached to the stem underneath; the extension bar is going fro...

Difference between disc wheels and handlebars?
I do not have a disc wheel(s), but I do have a bull horn style handlebar, if I want to use it. However, if given a choice (and I know the I Aero may be able to detect a difference of wheels/handlebars.) would the disc wheel, over a standard wheel(s), be more or less effective, then a bullhorn (handl...

Re: Trainer Values & Fitness Test
Tommyturbo said: I agree that a given wattage on the KK seems much harder than outdoors at higher wattages. Might just be that riding indoors is harder, both physically and mentally? The mental aspect is a definite factor in other areas in cycling, I believe. For instance, in the book: Training tips...

Re: Training set up question
This may help, I have observed that my wife and myself each have an optimal cadence. When my wife did a ramp test (starting from 80, or so, watts, then increasing power by 10 watts every minute and recording heart rate and power at that time) she actually had a higher heart rate at 90 watts then at ...

Re: Trainer Recommendation
Yes, as tommyturbo mentioned cardiac drift, you will, probably, have to drink more water or other drink, because I myself drip profusely even at very, aerobic pace. I mean I can ride and stay at below tempo to just above 65% of max heart rate, and within about 20 minutes I am dripping from sweat. Yo...
